COVID-19 Planning

- Last updated February 16, 2022.  This policy will update as guidance changes.

You're going to be running through the beautiful hills of Agoura Hills soon! We cannot wait to see you proudly put your finisher medal around your neck in celebration and know we all want a safe and successful race. Together we can do it!

We are very optimistic that the 2022 Dole Great Race will take place on April 2, but we need to be transparent and let you know what would happen if this event could no longer go ahead because of COVID-19.

If the 2022 Dole Great Race cannot be held in person due to COVID-19, you will select one of two options:
    1) Transfer your registration to the Virtual Dole Great Race.
*If your entry fee was more than the virtual event entry fee at the time of the cancellation, you will receive a refund for the difference in entry fees.
    2) Defer your registration to the 2023 event at no additional cost

See Registration & Refund Policy for details

How are we keeping you and our staff safe?

We are following Los Angeles County Health Department (LACHD) COVID-19 guidelines for events. Effective February 16, 2022, LACHD and the California Department of Public Health guidance changed the participation for outdoor mega events from 5,000 to 10,000 attendees. Attendance at the 2022 Great Race is below the 10,000 attendee threshold therefore the 2022 Great Race is not considered a mega event. If guidance changes, we will update this.

1. At the time of the event, runners, event staff and volunteers are to stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19; are waiting for COVID-19 test results; have COVID-19 symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has COVID-19 symptoms.

2. As we get closer to race day, if you are uncomfortable attending due to COVID-19, you are welcome to transfer your entry to the virtual event at no additional cost.

3. It is encouraged that you wear a mask in areas where there are large groups of people like at the start line, during pick up or while waiting around any busy area. Per Los Angeles County Public Health Department guidelines, masks are recommended but not required. Masks are not required for participants on course. There are no COVID testing or proof of vaccination requirements to attend or participate. The State of California Department of Public Health strongly recommends that attendees be fully vaccinated or obtain a negative COVID-19 test prior to attending the event.

4. Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks in applicable areas.

5. Staff and volunteers will be wearing disposable gloves in applicable areas.

6. Hand washing stations and hand sanitizer will be available at multiple locations around the event.

7. Aid stations will be adjusted to limit touch points. Hydration and energy gels will be available as always, but we certainly encourage you to carry your own.

As we get closer and guidelines change, we may need to adjust plans accordingly.  What does this mean?

• We may need to alter or eliminate some non-essential features of the Dole Great Race.

• We may need to alter race routes, start times or finish line festivities.

We are excited to celebrate the Dole Great Race together.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
