As one of the largest races in Hoboken, the HoBOOken has developed a safety plan for returning to racing responsibly amidst the COVID-19 concerns. Our goal is to ensure that all participants, staff, volunteers and community partners remain as safe as possible while attending the event.
These steps may be modified at any time, but will be communicated to registrants prior to race day.
Ahead of the race, we will outline specific safety procedures for participants, staff, volunteers and spectators. We’ll publish a detailed plan prior to race day and email it to all registrants.
We will offer virtual registration options so that those not comfortable attending in person.
There will be no in-person registration on race day. To avoid prolonged close contact, everyone will be required to register online prior to attending packet pickup.
Available several days prior to race day, early packet pickup will follow social distancing guidelines. We’ll avoid small spaces and setup outside.
Hand sanitizers will be available in all porta-johns. Sanitizer stations will be setup throughout the finish line area.
We will comply with CDC recommendations, local, state and federal guidelines to ensure runner safety and volunteer safety when it comes to face coverings and screenings. We would ask all participants to please stay home if you have had any symptoms within a week of the race or been in contact with someone with COVID.
We will work with our timing company to ensure a safe start and will update all in person runners on the procedures. We would encourage runners to bring their own hydration and will work to space out any areas of the course that might create bottleneck or that are higher congregate areas.
Results will be sent to/available on mobile devices. We will not have formal award ceremonies and awards can be picked up at a tent.
