The HoBOOken raises funds for the Hoboken Shelter. Right now, The Hoboken Shelter faces new challenges. But one thing is for certain: people cannot go hungry. As the COVID-19 public health emergency continues, those facing homelessness will be especially at risk. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.We know these are challenging times, but we also know that in these difficult times, we have seen the best of our community.
The HoBOOken has always been one of Hoboken's best races, drawing over 2,000 people and raising over $100,000 to combat homelessness with an all volunteer team. This year, Team HoBOOken made a tough decision to go virtual this summer, both to ensure the safety of our neighbors and to make sure important funds are raised for the Shelter. There are many great reasons to sponsor the HoBOOken.
Tell us about your company (What do you do? How long have you been in Hoboken? Why Hoboken?)
Rockefeller Group is a real estate developer, owner and operator, with roots in the New York metropolitan area dating back to the development of Rockefeller Center. In addition to an ownership interest in approximately six million square feet of office space developed in the modern expansion of the center, the company has been active in New Jersey real estate for more than 30 years, with a development track record spanning more than 10 million square feet of premier residential, office and industrial properties.
You’re a sponsor of the HoBOOken 5K, why did you decide to support this race?
We’ve owned property in Hoboken for more than a decade, and we’re committed to giving back in the communities where we live and work. In addition to owning property in the neighborhood, several of our employees in New York and New Jersey live in Hoboken, and are always bringing cool events to our attention.
Why is giving back to the community important to you?
Our company’s founding was originally part of a philanthropic endeavor, and so giving back has always been an important part of our corporate culture. We look to develop properties that deliver strong economic benefits to stakeholders, which includes the community, but we always look further at opportunities to improve quality of life through the built environment – whether that means the inclusion of open space or great amenities or both. Giving back is another way we look to improve quality of life in our communities and hope to make a difference.
Do you want to tell us more about your relationship with the Hoboken Shelter?
As a real estate company, it’s important to us to support organizations whose mission is to house and feed those who are less fortunate. On behalf of everyone at Rockefeller Group, we just want to say thanks to all the supporters, administrators and volunteers at Hoboken Shelter for the amazing work you do.
What is your favorite thing about the HoBOOken 5K race?
The costumes, of course! And the finish line…
