Run the Ravines - Five Stones 5k Trail Run

This year all participants in the Five Stones 5k Trail Run will be supporting Five Stones Academy. All proceeds from the trail run will be used to purchase curriculum and supplies for Five Stones Academy’s 2016-2017 School Year. Our Academy serves as a ministry for inner-city teen boys operating a residential school program for grades 9-12. All students, once selected, are invited to attend The Academy free-of-charge.

FIVE STONES 5K TRAIL RUN
The Five Stones Camp 5K Trail Run is an exciting course. Winding through the wooded hills of Five Stones Camp, this run will take you across ridges and through ravines. This trail is awesome for runners and walkers alike.
Yes, it will be a little harder than your average 5k, but the course is setup to accommodate runners, walkers and even hikers who just want to experience the outdoors with friends.
Volunteers and water stations will be set up in order to insure that everyone can complete the course.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
Early Bird Rates - $30 + fees (Until August 31st)

Regular Rates - $40 + fees
This includes a race T-shirt, Customized Race medal, and a goodie bag full of great giveaways from our sponsors!

HOW HARD IS THE COURSE?
This trail is what you would expect… it’s a trail. The trail is about 8-10 feet wide and the running surfaces are mostly dirt and gravel.
Yes, it will be harder than your average 5k, but the course is setup to accommodate runners, walkers and even hikers who just want to experience the outdoors with friends.
If you are used to running on sidewalks while people throw colored chalk in the air… this race will be little harder. But this is NOT one of those races where you will be running through 3 feet of mud while being electrocuted and chased by zombies…

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Come prepared for a good trail run and remember that this is a family friendly event… so, please leave your leopard print speedos at home.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE RACE?
First, go to the Check –IN table where (1) if you are a racer you’ll get your t-shirt, entry wristband and information packet, (2) if you are a spectator, you will need to check in and get an entry wristband. Finally, you’ll check any bags (we recommend leaving as much as possible in your car) and then head to the event area and wait for your wave to start.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO PARTICIPATE?
Racers must be at least 13 years old to run by themselves. Any runner/walker 12 or under will need to have a runner/walker 18 years or older accompany them throughout the course.

WHAT DO PARTICIPANTS GET?
As a racer, you’ll get a Five Stones 5K T-shirt, and a souvenir medal to commemorate this epic run! Not to mention, you will walk away knowing that you had a part in helping us reach at-risk teens enrolled in Five Stones Academy.

WHEN SHOULD I SHOW UP ON THE DAY OF THE RACE?
Please arrive 30 min before the run/walk starts. This gives you enough time to park, stretch, hydrate, check-in, etc.

WHAT IF I MISS THE START TIME?
Please let the volunteers at the Check-in table know. We will do our best to accommodate everyone who shows up late. That being said… please, be on time.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE?
Your finish time will depend on your athletic ability. Top times are generally in the low 20’s. However, most people will be able to finish within 30-60 minutes.

WILL THERE BE PICTURES TAKEN OF ME ALONG THE COURSE?
Maybe. Several volunteers will be onsite taking photos of participants throughout the course. However, we can’t guarantee that the photographers will capture every awesome moment.

CAN I GET A REFUND IF I CAN’T ATTEND?
No. There are no refunds for any reason. All registrations for this event are non-refundable. However, you can transfer your registration to someone else by contacting Five Stones Camp before race day.

IS THIS A MUD RUN?
No. At best the course might get a little muddy. However this is not a mud run so you won’t leave covered head to toe in mud unless you chose to.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
The race will not be cancelled for rain. This is Five Stones and we will run rain or shine. However, if lightning is in the area, we’ll delay the race until it passes. If there is severe weather the race will be re-scheduled to the following Saturday.

CAN I RUN BAREFOOT?
Yes. You are welcome to wear any find of footwear you want. However, you assume the risk of any injuries that result from your decision to do so. Good News Ministries and Five Stones Camp does not guarantee that the course will be free of sharp objects, including rocks, splinters, roots, glass, nails, or anything else whatsoever.

WHAT IF I GET HURT?
We will have a First Aid area set up near the finish line.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
No. But to be fair we don’t allow cats either…

CAN I REGISTER THE DAY OF THE RACE?
Yes. However, the penalty for your procrastination is $10. We will have a Race-day Registration table set up. You may pay your $50 by cash or credit card. (Additional fees apply)
