Description
2018 Optimist Sprint Triathlon:
Both an Adult and Youth Sprint event. Beautiful rural setting. Well organized. Annual triathlon to raise money for kids programs in Kosciusko County. Over 400 participants in 2015. Post race food and awards given. All age USAT sanctioned, individuals, Clydesdales, Athena and teams. USAT officals on site at event. USAT Certified Race Director.
The Adult Swim course is a1/8 mile out around a pontoon boat and 1/8 mile back. The Bike is mostly flat out to pierceton and back. Towards the end of the bike the new section of the Greenway is used. It does contain several hills for a short distance. The Run uses the Greenway for a majority of the event, but also does use city streets, especially toward the finish line.
Youth will use shorter portions of the adult course but will begin later than adults so there is minimal impact on race competitiveness. The course does require possible interaction with auto traffic so proper use of signals and awareness to traffic is stressed to all atheletes.
