Bird to Bear Heavy 10K - in loving memory of Robby

Bird to Bear Heavy 10K is a point-to-point walk/run that is approximately 6.75 miles (just slightly more than your average 10K). The race starts at Bird Point and takes participants through a scenic and paved path that ends at the baseball field across the highway from the Brown Bear Saloon. The course does parallel the beautiful Seward Highway and railroad tracks; hence, please use caution when nearing close proximity to the highway and railroad tracks. Please join us for the after-party, awards ceremony and silent auction at the Brown Bear Saloon immediately following the race. At the silent auction, you will have the opportunity to bid on gift cards from local businesses and restaurants and limited edition Iditarod prints signed by Alaska Artist Jon Van Zyle, the official Iditarod artist since 1979 who was inducted into the Iditarod Hall of Fame. 

About Robby: Robby Glover is Alison Glover’s brother who left this earth far too soon and unexpected. Alison is a Girdwood resident for over 20 years and requested that her brother be recognized in this special way.

About Pikes Peak 2 Nome (PP2N): Julie Nelson moved from Colorado to Alaska to train for the Iditarod under the auspices of Nicolas Petit/Team Petit. Funds raised from this event will go directly to PP2N, powered by Team Petit to help pay for sled dog race entry fees for Iditarod qualifiers and other Iditarod expenses.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING From Anchorage: Take the Seward Highway south to approximately mile marker 96.5 at the Bird Point pull off. Parking is FREE but limited - carpooling highly recommended and arrangments to be picked up from the Brown Bear Saloon highly encouraged (at approximately mile marker 103 on the Seward Highway).
