Are you tired of being locked up in your own home? Do you miss interacting with family and friends? You've come to the right place!
The Merced Union High School District Class of 2020 wants to invite you and your family (pets included) to participate in this FREE, unique, fun, and socially distant, VIRTUAL event. Join us as we celebrate and honor the Class of 2020 (from all levels of education) this Spring. We will be hosting the first VIRTUAL event of its kind in our area from June 5th-14th. This is a great way to get out as a family, show your support for education, and improve your overall physical and mental health while maintaining the safe social distance outlined by our local and state health officials.
Here's all you have to do: It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...
1) Create a free account, register, select an event, then run, walk, or bike it (between June 5th and 14th) using the free GPS app: RaceJoy.
2) You pick the day, the time, and the place...or use one of the 3 courses that start and finish at Merced HS, Buhach Colony HS, or Livingston HS.
3) The RaceJoy app will measure your distance and time and automatically upload it to the leader board. No smartphone? Just time yourself and report results here.
No t-shirts. No medals. Just a good time outdoors with family...practicing social distancing, of course.
When you are done, share your photos (don't forget your pets!) before, during, and after your event. And post them on your favorite social media platform. We know this is a very difficult time for us all. Join Merced Union High School District and the Class of 2020 for this FREE VIRTUAL event and let's make this summer the best one yet! 2020 Amanda Garcia Memorial Scholarship Winner - Justine Navarra!
Justine grew up on the campus of BCHS as a coach's daughter. She has represented our campus in the highest esteem as a student-athlete and role model for her peers. She was the only Class of 2020 Softball Student-Athlete to play fours years of varsity. Justine earned CCC All Academic Award for four years with a gpa of 4.2. She was a leader on and off the field. Justine was a member of BCHS Leadership for four years, while also being a Class Officer: 9th - Class VP, 10th - Class VP, 11th - ASB Secretary, and 12th - Rally Commissioner. Justine prided her organization of the "Winter Wishes Rally" that recognized those students that are less fortunate. She was recognized as 1 of 2 recipients of The CIF State "Spirit of Sport" Award/Scholarship, and also selected as the recipient of the 2020 Amanda Garcia Memorial Scholarship who recognizes student-athletes earning the opportunity to play collegiate sports. Justine will attend West Texas A&M DII to participate softball.
We are all so proud of you, Justine! Have fun learning and growing in college, make lots of friends, and remember to always swing for the fences!
