Description

Hey Runners! Here’s your chance to run some 14’ers in your own backyard! What, you don’t have a 14k foot peak near you? That’s okay, we’re just talking about all those rad 1,400 foot peaks that we have here locally!

Runners for Public Lands (RPL) is taking on the concept of "peak bagging" those gnarly 14,000 ft peaks (aka fourteeners) and putting our own spin on it. We're going to focus on 1,400 ft peaks in our very own backyard to make it more accessible and give us a chance to share some fun facts with our local community. RPL has selected five beautiful, accessible, trails ranging between 2.5 to 8 miles in length that will take you up to 1,400 ft in elevation and all within a short drive, bus ride, or run from downtown areas! These trails will span across the local Santa Barbara, Ventura, Ojai, Carpinteria, and Thousand Oaks areas. Whether you're completing one peak, five peaks, or any amount in between, you'll have between Friday, May 14th and Monday, June 14th to complete them.

We challenge the local community to run all five for a chance to earn some awesome gear (limited edition RPL Goodr Sunglasses, Patagonia product, etc). For each peak you "bag", you increase your chances of being selected. If complete all five, then you get one bonus opportunity. All submissions must be received by Monday, June 14th at 11:59pm PST (more details on how to submit your results to follow). Selected individuals will be drawn at random after the conclusion of the challenge and will be announced on Friday, June 18th. If you're taking on the challenge of "bagging" multiple peaks, you don't have to complete them all in one day (or you can!). A couple RPL Board Members will be taking on the challenge to run ALL 5 peaks in one day. Follow our Instagram account @runners4publiclands to see their journey. Also tag us and use #14HundredsClub in your posts!

After working up a sweat, consider stopping by a Topa Topa Brewing location near you for a tasty adult beverage to support 1% for the Planet. Sign up, tell your friends, and help us as we continue to raise money for our quickly growing non-profit organization!

*All Fourteen Hundred Club event proceeds will go directly to Runners for Public Lands to help our growing non-profit and so we can continue creating these super rad events and supporting local environmental, social, etc. that align with our mission statement.

TRAIL INFORMATION

Before you head out on the trails, be sure to review our handy dandy RESOURCE GUIDE with links to the routes and other information that could be useful.

We recommend packing water, snacks, etc., as these trails can get hot this time of year!
