For the past five years, the Albany Kiwanis Club has hosted the annual Pancake Run. This year, because of concerns caused by the Corona Virus pandemic, we will be hosting our first ever virtual race.
The good news is that you can still have pancakes after the race. You will have to cook and eat them in the comfort of your own kitchen, but let's be honest--who doesn't love pancakes? We at the Albany Kiwanis Club hope that you will eat a huge stack of pancakes after you run your race as a tribute to the spirit of the Albany Kiwanis Club's yearly pancake run.
All funds raised for this race will go to the Albany Kiwanis Club to serve the children of Southwest Georgia. 2020 marks the Albany Kiwanis Club's 100th year of service to its local children. Your participation in this year's Pancakes at Home races will allow the Albany Kiwanis Club to kick off its second 100 years of service to the children of Albany, the state of Georgia, the United States, and the world.
This year, the race will have two registration options. For any runner who wants a race T shirt, the entry fee will be $30 ($25 for the fun run) to cover the cost of the T shirt and the shipping. Runners who don't want a shirt can enter for a fee of only $15 or $10. In both cases, the fee will be $15 for the 5K or $10 for the one mile at registration. The added $15 for the shirt will appear in the giveaways portion of the registration process. Shirts and awards will be mailed to runners that don't live in Albany or Leesburg after the race weekend. Runners that live in Albany or Leesburg will be able to pick up their shirts and awards at Wild Side Running in Albany after the race weekend. I'll send a notice to local runners when the shirts and awards are available at the store.
For the first time this year, the Pancake Run is a part of the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix, the Clover Glove Race Series, and the Black Bag Race Series.
To be eligible for awards and race series points, proof of distance and time must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, October 4. To protect the integrity of the results, we request that runners submit their activity via file. The directions for how to submit results via file (for example, Strava or Garmin Connect) can be found by following this link:
A good, vigorous run followed by a stack of pancakes is the perfect way to start off any morning, especially when doing so has a philanthropic feel to it. Good luck, and let's have a lot of fun!
