Description

TASK:   On Saturday, September 14th, 2019 the 501c(3) Non Profit Organization, Struggle Beyond the Decade will host a 5(K) organized ruck march/walk through the city of Des Moines to raise awareness for the issue of Veteran and first responder suicide.

CONDITIONS: The 5K ruck march/walk will take place at Principal Park (1 Line Drive Des Moines, Iowa) and have the southeast "water feature" gate and south main gate open at 8 a.m. The March start point is at the Water Feature located on the Southeast side of the ball-field. This link up time will be important for your souvenir tee shirt pick up. At 9 a.m. the pre march ceremonies will begin and the march will begin immediately after the national anthem.

PURPOSE: This event mission is to bring local Iowa Veterans, First Responders, veteran organizations and a supportive community together to raise awareness and support of veteran nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping veterans find alternative outcomes to the struggles of PTSD and the ongoing struggle of Veteran suicide. All proceeds raised will benefit the following Nonprofit Organizations: Struggle Beyond the Decade, and the Veterans Adventure Group. Event planners will work with community leaders, veterans and first responders to put on a spectacular event to mingle veteran, first responders and a community to help create new dialogue about the suicide rates for local Iowa veterans and their familes.

STANDARD: Registrations for this event is $25 each participant will receive their souvenir march tee shirt at the event (must have registered by September 5ht to receive shirt). Participants are not required but are encouraged to wear a rucksack/backpack during the march (not provided). There will be several stops along the way for hydration and accountability.
