On January 28th, Firefighter Mike Ricci tragically died and left behind his three children; Angel Ricci, Michael V. Ricci Jr, and Sophiya Ricci. A 23 year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, Mike was a man of faith, honor, loyalty, sacrifice, love, and was the epitome of selflessness and servitude - constantly assisting others in times of need. After graduating from Hyde Park High School, Michael joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18. He served in the Gulf War (Desert Storm) and courageously earned numerous awards for his bravery including: Army Achievement Medal // Army Lapel Button // Army Commendation Medal // Army Service Ribbon // Good Conduct Medal 1st AWD // Kuwait Liberation Medal // National Defense Service Medal // Overseas Service Ribbon w/NUM 1 // Southwest ASIA Service Medal w/3 Bronze // Con’t in Block 18.

After his honorable completion of his military service, Michael then pursued life as a Boston FireFighter for 23 years. Most recently he earned the position of Aide to the District Chief where he worked tirelessly day by day, displaying what it means to be a true firefighter. From starting out on Ladder 26 to moving around to multiple stations such as Ladder 6, Ladder 4, Ladder 18, Ladder 9, Michael was a self-sacrificing and humble man - never seeking recognition for his selfless acts. He constantly showed courage and set positive examples to his fellow firefighters and put his life on the line every day to protect the people of Boston.
