Beyond the Finish Line: This is a limited virtual Memorial 5k event Paying Tribute to Those Who Serve.All you do is register and then simply go out and either Run - Walk - Hike - Cycle a 5k anytime, anywhere and at your speed. 

Virtual Freedom Flag Memorial 5k is about giving thanks and paying tribute to our US Armed Forces and First Responders who so willingly step up to answer the call to serve their nation and community.

It is an opportunity to inspire, motivate and simply say thanks to the men and women of the US Armed Forces and our First Responders for all they do putting their lives on the line.  Simply take the time to do a 5k whether you walk -run- hike or take a bike ride it's your decision on how you're going to do your 5k in Honor and Remembrance of their service and sacrifice.

Cpl. David Atherton, 23, was Born in Winchester on September 25, 1992, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Kathleen A. (Noonan) Atherton.David was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 2011 and Northshore Community College. David enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2011. David was a part of the 972nd Military Police Company. David was also a Stoneham Firefighter. He strived to serve his country and community. David died on June 28, 2016, in his hometown of Stoneham Massachusetts after a tragic accident. David was a loving, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. David touched so many lives and he will be forever missed. Kevin McDonald, 20, born in Winchester, Massachusetts passed away on  October 24, 2017 after a tragic motorcycle accident. Kevin was the son of Roland J. and Cheryl A. (Wilson) McDonald of Woburn. Brother of Sarah Atherton and her husband Richard of Tewksbury, and Steven McDonald of Woburn. Uncle of James and Abagail Atherton. Kevin will be forever missed.  Both David and Kevin were active in living a healthier lifestyle. They embraced life, liberty and their freedom. Each registered participant will receive a Race bib and Custom Race medal.

All Proceeds will benefit Give2Those.org and the Cpl David Atherton scholarship program.
