Sunshine Courage Adventure Run

Join us at Tuttle Educational State Forest in Lenoir, NC on October 21st as we raise money for Sunshine Courage Quilts, a non-profit group who makes handmade quilts for the families of fallen firefighters and forest service members. 

There will be a 3-4 mile long run through the beautiful state forest as well as a 1 mile competitive youth run and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk.  This is a trail run so runners should make note that the terrain is not always level and is not paved.  You'll get to experience all of the beauty that nature has to offer while on your run/walk!

11:00 a.m. 1 Mile Competitive Youth Run AND 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

If you're interested in supporting the cause but can't make it to the event, there will also be a Virtual Participant category.  You run the miles at your convenience; no need to verify completion - we use the honor system!  Race swag will be mailed to Virtual Participants the week of or after the event. 

ALL finishers will receive a finisher's medal (VP's as well!).  You must register by October 1st to guarantee that we have your t-shirt size.  Individuals who register after October 1st will not be guaranteed their requested shirt size and extra shirts will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis for online registrations after October 1st and on-site registrations. 

Registration for the 5K/long run distance, as well as Virtual Participant category is $25 until October 1st.  Registration for the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk and Competitive Youth Run is $15 until October 1st.  After October 1st, the price for all events increases by $5. 

Overall male and female 1st-3rd place runners will be awarded.  Age group awards will be awarded male and female, three deep for the 5K in the following age groups:

Under 14 years old                       30-39 years old                       60-69 years old

15-19 years old                             40-49 years old                       70+ years old

20-29 years old                            50-59 years old                        

Age group awards will be awarded male and female, three deep for the 1 Mile Competitive Youth Run in the following age groups:

0-5 years old                          6-10 years old                          11-14 years old

Because it will be close to Halloween, costumes are welcomed (no masks please!).  We will have the dancers from Studio K performing for you while you wait for your event to begin, or afterwards.  Join them for a few on-the-spot dance combos as well!  Other festivities for the day will include balloon twisting, face painting, pony rides, a hotdog sell, a quilt raffle, and fire trucks!  There will be activities at the main race area as well as at the shelters near the main entrance. 

Your race entry fee gets you a single raffle ticket for a beautiful, handmade quilt and additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase at $3 each.  (No fabric donations will be accepted at this event.  If you would like to donate fabric for future quilting projects, contact Sunshine Courage Quilts directly to arrange your donation.)
