Description

Join us for the Blazing Trails 4- Mile Run/1.5 Mile Walk for Autism! Four miles on the rolling hills and scenic vistas of the beautiful Great Neck South Campus and nearby areas of Lake Success.

Eden II/Genesis Programs

Net proceeds will benefit the Eden II & Genesis Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit. 

Eden II's Genesis Programs serve individuals with autism in Long Island, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. Families are provided with school programs, services, residential facilities, and family support services for children and adults living with autism. As a premier autism agency, we are devoted to providing the best quality of life for individuals with autism throughout their lifetimes.  

We are excited to announce that our Blazing Trails for Autism/Walk 2023 will be in-person at Great Neck South High School and will also be offered virtually to our supporters everywhere! The funds raised from this event will help us continue to support programs and services of our participants with Autism.

Fundraising Options

This year, we are once again giving you the chance to be a part of something BIGGER by joining in on the fundraising efforts of this event!  Below is a description on what you will be have the opportunity to do. 

INDIVIDUALS: You have the option upon signup to create an INDIVIDUAL fundraiser. You will be able to customize your personal fundraising link, and you can share that link on social media and with friends and family to help generate funds for Eden II's Genesis Programs! 

TEAMS: Once you have signed on to become an individual fundraiser, you have the option to create a TEAM of fundraisers. You can be the captain, or you can JOIN an already-created team.

Even if you are not taking part in the race, you CAN do something fabulous for your fellow humans and become an individual fundraiser or join a fundraising team! That means for folks who are participating in the race, you can recruit your friends and famliy to help you raise funds for Eden II's Genesis Programs, and they can come and watch you race on October 2nd, and know how much they helped others! 

FUNDRAISING INCENTIVES/PRIZES!!!!

Here's the amazing part - get rewarded for the dollars you raise! 

RUN/WALK FOR FREE: Individiual fundraisers will be refunded their $35 entry fee if they raise $100 for Eden II's Genesis Programs! (Original method of payment will be refunded by the race in 3-5 business days)

Amenities

All participants will receive a race themed shirt - a soft, tri-blend unisex lightweight long-sleeved hoodie in unisex sizing from XS to 3X.  

To ensure you have your shirt on race day, you MUST REGISTER BY SEPTEMBER 18!!! Any participants who sign up after September 18 will still receive a shirt, but it will not be until AFTER the race!!!

All paraticipants of the LIVE event (not virtual) will be entered into the door prize drawing for lots of fun prizes! 

Course

Four miles on the rolling hills and scenic vistas of the beautiful Great Neck South Campus and nearby areas of picturesque Lake Success. An alternate 1.5 mile walk is also available. Click on PDF to see course (the 1.5 mile walk course is highlighted in blue). 

This is a USATF sanctioned event on a USATF certified course.

Awards for the 4 Mile Run

  • Top Male and Female finisher overall
    Top Male and Female Masters (age 40+) finisher
  • Top two nonbinary finishers
    Top three Male and Female finishers in each of the following Age Groups:
    12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, and in 5-yr groups up thru 90+
  • Top three Clydesdale Men: 185-199 lbs., 200 lbs. plus
  • Top three Athena Women: 140-159 lbs., 160 lbs. plus
  • Top three Wheelchair finishers

Registration

There will be day-of-race registration, however it is strongly recommended that you register in advance

LIVE RACE - 4M Run & Wheelchair, 1.5M Walk

GLIRC Members get a $5 discount through 9/30 - discount NOT available day-of-race

Early Registration - Now through September 22 

Individual Entry for in-person event - Adults:  $35, $30 for GLIRC Members

Late Registration - September 23 through September 30 

Individual Entry for in-person event-  $40, $35 for GLIRC members

Day-of-Race Registration - October 1 until 8:15 AM at race check-in

Individual Entry for in-person event - $45 for all

(PLEASE NOTE PRICE INCREASE FOR LATE AND DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION - REGISTER EARLY TO SAVE $$$!)

 

VIRTUAL RACE:

Entry fee for virtual race is $35, $30 for GLIRC Members. There are no awards for the virtual events. Registration will close at 8:15 AM on Sunday October 1. Results can be posted from 12:00 AM October 1 through 11:59 PM October 8.

Race Check-In

Packet pickup is only available race day at Great Neck South High School, Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 7:00 AM - 8:15 AM.

Absolutely NO PICKUP AFTER 8:15 AM.

Door Prizes

All live event participants will be entered in the door prize drawing!!! 

Door prizes to be announced soon - they are sure to be FABULOUS, so please check back as the event draws closer for details! 

Costume Contest & Scavenger Hunt!

This year's fun run activities aim to kick off the Halloween season! 

Costume Contest:

  • Dress in your best costume idea and raise money for autism! 
  • Open to runners and walkers of all age groups! 
  • Best Individual Costume
  • Best Children's Costume
  • Best Duo
  • Must be present to win! 
  • Winners will be announced during the post-race live event on October 1.

Scavenger Hunt:

  • Virtual - complete your virtual walk and hunt for some fun items in the neighborhood! 
  • In-Person - on the race route, look for some spooky decorations on the trail. You can trade in your completed hunt for a prize at the finish!

Directions and Parking

PARKING:
Race parking is only available at 1 Hollow Lane OR 3333 New Hyde Park Road. Please note that there is NO Parking at the school! (Parking at the school is for Volunteers or Sponsors with a pass only - which will be strictly enforced).  It's only a short 6-7 minute walk to the school so please plan accordingly. You should plan to park no later than 8:00am as the LIE Service road will be closed at that time. This will also give you sufficient time to get to the starting line. After that time the only access to race parking will be via New Hyde Park Road, Exit 34.

DIRECTIONS:
FROM THE WEST: take LIE Exit 33, toward Community Drive/Lakeville Road, stay on the service road and go past the school. Make the first right into the entrance to 1 Hollow Lane. A volunteer will be there to direct you. 

FROM THE EAST: take LIE Exit 33, left onto Community Drive, immediate left onto LIE south service road and go past the school. Make the first right into the entrance to 1 Hollow Lane. A volunteer will be there to direct you. 

Overflow parking will be at 3333 New Hyde Park Road which is the building to the left of 1 Hollow Lane.

Timing & Scoring

Timing and scoring will be provided by SRC Timing Services.
