NYTRI 5 BORO VIRTUAL CHALLENGE IN THE METRO AREA
 

Do you have what it takes to be a 5 Boro Champion?

Take on the NYTri challenge and work your way through Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx!

All duathlons are based on regular season events, plus an additional race in the Bronx at Orchard Beach course. The challenge is to compete in all five events

If you can’t make it to the NYC Metro Area you can compete virtually in your hometown. Select 5 locations and post results from each race on line at: www.nytri.org

Our virtual challenge gives you the flexibility to compete on your own time, in your own space, with your own team. All duathlons are based on the events during the normal season, plus an additional race in the Bronx at Orchard Beach Course. The challenge is to compete in all five events. DU it on your own and be a 5 Boro Champion or gather your race buddies, family, friends, coworkers, employees, relatives or neighbors and be a winning TEAM! Each member of the team receives the challenger prizes below.
Complete the challenge and receive:

One Borough: Shirt / Finisher Medal

Two Boroughs: Shirt / Finisher Medal / Water Bottle

Three Boroughs: Shirt / Finisher Medal / Water Bottle / Buff

Four Boroughs: Shirt / Finisher Medal / Water Bottle / Buff / Trophy

Five Boroughs: Shirt / Finisher Medal / Water Bottle / Buff / Personalized Plaque / 2021 Free Race (Except Spring Relay)

Course

Manhattan Central Park Race Course

RUN - 2.1 miles - The run starts at East Drive at 74th Street, goes north to a turnaround point at 96th Street (on East Drive) and back along the same route to the transition area (Boathouse Parking Lot). Runners must stay to the left side of the runner's lane.

BIKE - 12 miles - The bike course consists of two (6 mi.) loops of Central Park in a counter-clockwise direction. Bikers must stay in the middle and right lanes at ALL times and may not enter the runners (left) lane under ANY circumstances!

2nd RUN: The second run is identical to the first.

Brooklyn Prospect Park Race Course

RUN - 3 miles - Start at the Lincoln Playground, head north to Center Drive and make left follow Center Drive to the end and make another left on West Drive which will turn into East Drive back to the Transition (Lincoln Playground).

BIKE - 12 miles - 3 loops - Start at the Lincoln Playground and head north on East Drive; keep left to Grand Army Plaza turns into West Drive which will turn into East Drive back to
the Transition (Lincoln Playground).

2nd RUN: The second run is identical to the first.

Queens Rockaway Race Course

RUN - 1.5 miles - The 1st run is an out and back start on the boardwalk opposite the transition area at B94th Street. Run 3/4 mile on the boardwalk to B74th Street Rockaway Beach Playground, before turning around and running back to the transition area (B94th Street).

BIKE - 10 miles - The bike course consists of one complete loop of the boardwalk in a counter-clockwise direction. West to B126th Street, turn back to B9th Street, turn back to B94th Street transition.

2nd RUN - 3 miles - Is an out and back. Start on the boardwalk opposite the transition area at B94th Street. Run 1.5 miles on the boardwalk before turning around at B110th Street and running back to the finish line (B94th Street).

Staten Island Midland Beach Race Course

RUN - 1 ½  miles - The duathlon running course on the boardwalk opposite Lincoln Avenue and will run 3/4 mile (2nd Life Guard Trailer) before turning around and running back to the transition area.

BIKE - 12 miles - The bike course is on both sides of Fr. Capodanno Blvd, between Greeley Ave. and Sand Lane (Softball Field).

RUN – 3 miles - The final run is a 1 ½ -mile run out and back for a total of 3 miles.  Starting on the promenade at Midland Beach and going east to Sands Lane (Just Past The Trees).

Bronx Orchard Beach Course

RUN - One Loop 2 miles - Head from the Start/Finish line (as indicated on the map) to the boardwalk, by the basketball courts. Make a right on the boardwalk following the bend to the end and turning back to the other end of the boardwalk. Turn again back to the basketball courts and back to the Start/Finish line.
BIKE: - 12 miles - This course is three 4 mile loops, from the Start/Finish line head out on the far east side of the parking. Keep to the right going through the Entrance/Exit gate of the park. Go onto the bike trail and take it to the City Island Bridge. Make a shape turn back to the Park Entrance/Exit gate. Make a right turn to the OLD Bus Terminal. Make the complete loop back to the main road. Make right turn to the NEW Bus Terminal.  Make that complete loop. Head back to the Far East end of the parking lot. Make a sharp right and head to the far west end of the parking lot. Make a left and head south the almost the end of the parking lot. Make a left to the far east end of the parking lot. Make a left back to the Start/Finish line.
2nd RUN: The second run is identical to the first.
