Join us in our goal to log enough miles to circle the equator and summit the tallest mountains to visit our loved ones.

The pandemic has greatly impacted our ability to do things that we wouldn't typically hesitate in doing. For many traveling to visit friends and family is not an option due to many different factors. This April we want to come together and conquer that distance (virtually) as a team. The coronavirus might limit our ability to gather in large groups, but running, walking, hiking and getting fresh air are all still encouraged activities, even for those sheltered in place.  Join our team as we motivate and encourage each other to exercise during the month of April.

The participants of this “virtual event” will work together to accumulate miles and elevation over the month. If we all collectively conquer our challenges we will earn a gift card to Sayville/Smithtown Running Company.

Challenges for SRC's Run Around the World 2: Ain't No Mountain High Enough:
- Run the collective distance to visit our loved ones - $10 Gift Card- Distance TBD - During the registration process you will be asked a series of questions about the distance it would take to visit a loved one that you were unable to visit due to the pandemic. This can be as close as the next town over or half way across the world, whoever it is you just were unable to visit them due to the corona virus.
- Run Around the World 1x - $15 Gift Card - Distance: 24,901 Miles
- Summit the 10 Highest Peaks - $7 Gift Card - Distance: 274,874 feet
- Summit the 25 Highest Peaks - $8 Gift Card - Distance: 665,070 feet

Whether you walk 1 mile all month, or run 300 miles, whether you climb 100 feet or 30,000 feet, you’re still eligible for the gift card.  This is a group effort! Along the way there will be raffles, prizes, and motivational checkpoints as well to keep everyone on their toes and spirits high.  Our goal is to work together, but separately.

More specific instructions will be included below and in the confirmation email when you register.

Prize Levels

The prize is based on the achievement of the group collectively.  Everyone will win or lose the award together.  

If the group collectively runs

  • Run the collective distance to visit our loved ones - $10 Gift Card - Distance TBD
  • Run Around the World 1x - $15 Gift Card - Distance: 24,901 Miles
  • Summit the 10 Highest Peaks - $7 Gift Card - Distance: 274,874 feet
  • Summit the 25 Highest Peaks - $8 Gift Card - Distance: 665,070 feet

What Activities Count?

Activities that count towards the goal:

  • Any walking, running or hiking above and beyond your daily routine.
  • Treadmill runs/walks, trail runs/walks, road runs/walks
  • walks around the block, walks around your living room, runs back and forth in your driveway (these all count if they’re done with the purpose of exercise and the spirit of the event)

Both manually logged entries and GPS logged entries are allowable.  

Activities that do not count:

  • Bike rides
  • elliptical machines
  • rowing
  • rides in planes, trains or automobiles

How to Upload your Miles and Elevation

Step 1: Click the "Results" tab on the RATW RunSignUp Page

 

Step 2: Click "Submit Virtual Results" button on results page.

 

Step 3: Look up your registration. Make sure to enter your name as it is on the registration confirmation.

 

Step 4: Click the "Log Activities" button next to your registration.

 

Step 5: Enter your activity type, the date it was completed, the distance in miles and your elevation in feet. Hit "Submit Activity".

FAQ

Q: Do I need to run every day?
A: No.  If you run or walk once during the whole month, or twice every single day it makes no difference on your eligibility.  Cumulative miles & elevation are all we're worried about.

Q: How do I figure out my elevation? 
A: Many GPS & Smartwatches will calculate the elevation as you run. Your fitness app might also provide an elevation gain or climb number. Some treadmills will also calculate your elevation as you do inclines on the treadmill. Here are a few screenshots on where to find the elevation on Garmin & Strava.

Q: How do I change my milestone goals?
A: Milestone goals will be set to what the average number we will need to be to reach our goals. If you would like to increase or decrease your goals you can. Here are the steps:
Step 1: When editing or adding an activity there will be an "edit personal goals" tab on the bottom of the screen. Click on that tab.

Step 2: Enter your new goals to keep you motivated and on pace. Make sure to hit "Save Goal" button.

Q: How will I know our progress?
A: There will be regular emails sent out that will update you on our collective progress.  These emails will also include motivation, raffle prizes and tips on health and safety. Make sure you select receive emails during the registration process.

Q: How do I get my gift card?
A: At the end of the challenge it will be mailed to you at the address you provide during registration.
