28th Annual RidgeWalk & Run
October 18, 2019
To our RidgeWalkers:
First of all accept our sincere thanks for your unwavering patience and understanding as we navigate the coronavirus pandemic. Like many of you, all of us here on the RidgeWalk & Run team have been trying to figure out how to navigate this strange time. We have wrestled with the decision on whether or not we can safely hold the 28th annual RidgeWalk & Run given today’s environment. This, hands down, is the hardest decision we have had to make in the life of the RidgeWalk.
Our initial reaction was to cancel the event in its entirety. However as I was out on a solo run on the Wellsville area WAG trail it hit me, the RidgeWalk is so much more than the one day event in the hills of Alma, NY! The RidgeWalk is a COMMUNITY of adventurous people, always looking for something new around the next bend, always looking to push themselves to the next level and tackle the next great adventure. This great bunch of people love to share their adventures on the trails regardless of where they are.
Even though safety concerns are going to prevent us from gathering in a large mass, this will not hold back our community of RidgeWalkers. It is for this reason we have made the decision to transition the RidgeWalk & Run to a virtual event this year!
We recognize that for some, especially the almost 70 registrations we already have, this may be a disappointing announcement. Please understand that we have tried very hard to figure out how to get together. We rely very heavily on our local school system for facilities and bussing and we count on 50+ land owners to allow us to trek along their trails. Logistically we cannot pull it off this year.
But we are still a community! We can do this!
The RidgeWalk team would like to invite you to register for our first (and hopefully one and only) virtual RidgeWalk & Run. Here is how it will work:
Remember, all proceeds from the RidgeWalk & Run still go to supporting our local Wellness initiatives
We apologize for how late this decision was made. We truly tried to work out a way we could all still safely get together. Many of the volunteers work here at Jones Memorial Hospital and we all agreed it just wouldn’t be in the best interest for our RidgeWalk community to try and gather together.
We do hope that you will chose to join us on our virtual trek and share your stories and where you ventured out to! This is one way we can all work to stay connected, as a RidgeWalk community.
See you on the trails!
Special age pricing is available in all categories and vary by category.
