5K Fun Run/Walk Book Fest

The Race Starts at Russell Long Blvd next to Buffalo Stadium.  The finish is inside the stadium.

Packet Pickup is from 6:30AM-7:20AM Saturday, July 16th.  The Race Starts at 7:30AM on Saturday, July 16th.

ABOUT:

This Eagle Project is helping with the Leaders Readers Network, which is an organization that helps get books into kids’ hands that may not have any books that they can call their own.  With that the 5k Book fest to help the Leaders Readers Network. With the support of the people that are sponsoring the 5k/book fest and people doing the 5k/ book fest, the money is being used to help set up the 5k and the book fest.

One of the best parts about this event is it can be done in person, virtually, or at home by reading in bed! Challenge your family and friends to do a quick 5k or walk at your own pace. You can also do it at your own home, or in your favorite chair with your favorite book. Please come run/walk with us in person on July 16th at 7:30am, or virtually through July 31st, or at home reading your favorite book supporting the cause of getting more books in children’s hands. 

OPTION ONE: Read in Bed (This can be completed July 1st through July 31st)

All Participants Receive:

• Shirt
• The opportunity to write 5 words of encouragement to go in a book that will go to a child.
• The Knowledge of helping a child take a book home and getting more books in a classroom.

OPTION TWO: Virtually (this can be completed July 1st through July 31st and you have a month to post pictures of you wearing your shirt, bib, and finishing medal with the hashtag #5klapforliteracy)

All Participants Receive:

• Shirt and Bib
• The opportunity to write 5 words of encouragement to go in a book that will go to a child.
• The knowledge of helping a child take a book home and getting more books in a classroom.
• A commemorative medal.
• Letter from the race organizer or Board Members.

OPTION 3: In-Person

All Participants Receive:

• Shirt
• Letter from the race organizer or Board Members.
• A commemorative medal.
• The opportunity to write 5 words of encouragement in a book that will go to a child.
• The Knowledge of helping a child take a book home and getting more books in a classroom.
• A swag bag that includes items like water bottles, decals, snacks, etc.

At the end of the 5k race, there will be a book fest which will consist of meeting Authors, meeting characters, food, and fun activities. The cost will be $10 to be able to get into the book fest.

Also, we need volunteers for helping with the book fest. 5 for Registration, 20 for Hype stations, 20 for Water stations,5 for Book station, and another 20 for other things as well. Please contact us to sign up for volunteering.
