Greetings Fellow Runners!
Despite every effort by our team to ensure the safety of our runners and comply with local safety requirements, the in-person portion Winter Series race has been canceled. Our virtual race alternatives are detailed below and we look forward to running with you (even virtually) again!
The GOOD news…
Because we had already planned for a virtual option we have implemented ways to make this event engaging and fun for all participants. With some outstanding support from our great sponsors we are excited to be offering 20 gift cards of $50 to the Wasatch Running Center. Wasatch Running for many years’ has played a key role in our ability to put on such an incredible event and we are very honored that they have stuck with us through this difficult time. More information on how to win these prizes will be detailed below.
Along with these wonderful prizes we are offering limited edition finisher medals and facemasks! Working closely with both our designers and vendors we will be sending out our reveal email as soon as we have our designs finalized. Gift cards, race medals and commemorative facemask will all be available at Wasatch Running Center (address: 8946 S State St, Sandy UT 84070) upon completion of the series.

Your Race Entry Pays for our Making Strides program!!!
Here at the SLCTC we pride ourselves on our love and enthusiasm of running, but more importantly is our opportunity to give back to our great community. Our Making Strides Program is one of the most important ways that we are able to do this and every year we help introduce 60-80 kids to running by providing shoes and other gear along with coaching from our wonderful volunteers. As a non profit organization we heavily rely on our racing events to be able to fund our outreach programs. While a race deferment option is available we would encourage you to still participate in our 2021 Virtual series and join us again, hopefully in person, for the 2022 races! Your entry fees paid for the 2020 program at the Sugarhouse Boys & Girls Club (over 50 pairs of running shoes!). For deferment to 2022 please email the race director at winterseries@slctrackclub.org with the subject line "deferment."
Note from the Director
As many of you know, the annual Winter Series is an event that we believe to be one of the best race series around! It is an event that draws out the best our running community has to offer by offering a competitive course, exceptional participants and staff. Every year we have soldered out to The Great Saltair, facing potential freezing temperatures and changing winds. This was going to be my 3rd year participating in this event, and with great honor I was going to do it as the Race Director. Like so many, I have also felt the sting of 2020's cancelled races and the toll it has taken on us as runners and so I set out to ensure that this event would be as safe as possible.
When I accepted this role I knew that I was being charged with maintaining the event quality and standards that we have all come to expect from our nationally recognized series. But, myself and the race committee were also charged with a unique challenge in coming up with a plan for all participants’ safety due to COVID-19. In fulfilling this responsibility we researched precautions for gatherings, spoke with other race directors that were holding events and attended races to understand what steps were being taken, both successful and unsuccessful. Due to the size of our event we began working with local and county municipalities, but with recent mandates and ordinances, I felt that it would no longer be responsible to press for an in person race event.
