The DNR is not issuing permits. We have moved the race to Nashotah Park and have permits in hand! It's a go for 2020.
Welcome to Wisconsin's newest ultra. Ok, it's not really new. The Lapham Peak Trail Races event was started in 2012 by Russell DeLap. SCSE acquired the event in 2019 and this year we are adding a 5K, 10K, and a 50K! PLUS, everyone gets a finisher medal!
The race uses a combination of the yellow (outside loop), pink (inside loop), and purple loop (start area). The trails are well groomed and mostly wood chipped. There is a portion that is grass, but it is well maintained. Over 60% of the course is shaded with trees.
The course distances are pretty accurate. We have to make a lap around the rugby field in order to get the distance. Don't worry, we will have plenty of volunteers to help with directions and it sounds way more complicated than it is!
50K - 6 laps on outside + 1 around rugby field
Marathon - 5 laps on outside + 1 around rugby field + a 1.2 mile purple loop
Half marathon - 2 loops on outside + 1 on inside
10K - 2 laps on inside
5K - 1 lap on inside
This will be a wave start race. Waves of 10 people will start every 30 seconds. There will be 10 rows of cones with 10 cones per row spaced 10 feet apart. You will self assign your wave on race day by selecting the wave and standing next to a cone. The announcer will start each wave. We ask that people social distance at least 10 feet while in the park and wait until 10 minutes prior to the start of the race to select your wave. Your time will not start until you cross the start line. As you make your way from the wave to the start, please continue to social distance by 10 feet.
Based on our current permits, face coverings are now required at events. Here is how it will work:
Anyone in the “Arena” is required to wear a face covering. The Arena is defined as anywhere other than on the race course. This includes registration, packet pickup, parking areas, finish line, start line, restrooms, beer line, medal line, anywhere near other people. If you are within 10’ of anyone, at any time, a face covering is required.
Once you are on course, face coverings do not need to be worn, provided you are at least 10 feet from another person. At the start, you are spaced 10’ from others - we strongly encourage you to keep that distance. If you need to pass, call out “on your left” and move as far left as you can. Once you have passed a runner and you are at least 10’ in front of them, move back to the right.
We encourage runners to consider using running buffs while running near others. Buffs are available on our merchandise website.
When you cross the finish line, please move outside of the arena for your cool down. Once your cool down is complete, a face covering is again required.
If we want to keep running in person events together (and we do!), it is imperative that we exceed our permit requirements. Waukesha County is one of the few places in America that is open to in person events. It is up to our running community to prove that we can hold events safely.
The shirts are gender specific, dry wick and those registered by noon on September 3rd are guaranteed a custom race shirt. After that, shirts will be available while online supplies last. Any extra shirts will be distributed after the race on a first come, first served basis.
Everything you ever wanted to know about shirts can be found right here. The FEMALE shirts run small!
Parking is available on site.
The entrance to the park is short, so please have $5.00 in cash or a season pass when entering. There are four park and ride lots in the area.
Hwy 83 & I94 (northwest corner of Golf Road & Hwy 83) 3.5 miles

Sorry, because of capacity limits, we are not offering pacers. Spectators are discouraged from attending and not permitted at the start, finish, or registration areas.
We anticipate two self-service bag drops: one at mile 3 and one at mile 5. Runners will need to drop their bags prior to the race start in order to keep the event 100% touch-free. We will provide detailed instructions and locations in the race day instructions.
Sorry, because we cannot guarantee touch-free aid stations, there will not be any. Please take advantage of bag drop options for your hydration and nutrition needs.
We need volunteers for everything from goody bag stuffing to course marshals. If you or your group have an interest in volunteering, we would greatly appreciate the assistance. All volunteers can run a future race at no charge. Register to volunteer by clicking on the volunteer link in the menu above.
The event is chip timed by Silver Circle Sports Events. Please wear your bib on the front of your body and only cross the finish line when you are finished. We will have a lap counter mat on course. How to wear your bib.
