Description

The Wisconsin Beer Run 5k & .05k

at Old World Wisconsin

We're back at Old World Wisconsin for the 2023 Beer Run 5k & .05k! Join us on Sunday, October 29 2023.
That’s right, OWW is not just for field trips anymore. We’re celebrating the brand new Brewhouse in true Wisconsin Beer Run fashion. All participants will receive a sample of Old World’s historic beer, brewed on-site, and a full-size celebratory finisher's beer from our sponsor. And of course, the famous beer run swag!
The course will take you through the unique and crafted areas of Old World Wisconsin. Traveling through the Crossroads Village, passing by The Life on The Farms, and then sneaking a behind-the-scenes look at the modern animal barn. Beer Runners will journey through the Scandinavian Homestead before crossing the finish line back in the Village. On this special access visit to Old World Wisconsin, you’ll be surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature, grazing farm animals, and vivid autumn leaves.
Over in the garden, the beer will be flowing, music will be jumpin’, and folks will be celebrating their victories with breathtaking autumn views.

FAQ

We will periodically update the FAQ as questions come in. Check back as we get closer to the event for more details!
Parking:
Parking will be available for free in the lots adjacent to the Beer Garden.
Spectator Tickets:
Anyone who purchases a spectator ticket will be able to enjoy the new brewing experience at Old World Wisconsin during the race. This includes hands-on brewing demonstrations and information about the vast beer history of Wisconsin. Spectators will also be able to get a glimpse of the exterior of the newly restored Wittenbel tavern! Spectators will not have access to the site or race course. Access will include the brewhouse, the food service area, food and entertainment, and Ramsey Barn retail space. Each spectator ticket includes a complimentary beer. Spectators will have access to the finish line. If you would like to access the course, you must purchase a race registration.
Racer Tickets:
Race participants will have access to the course that will allow them to travel through the entire site, running through the Crossroads Village, The Life on The Farms, get a behind-the-scenes look at our modern animal barn, and then through the Scandinavian Homestead before completing the course back in the Village. Racers will then be able to get a first-hand look at the brewing experience at Old World Wisconsin while enjoying the free post-race beer. There will also be lunch available for purchase while enjoying all of the post-race entertainment. Note: Racers will not be able to return to the course after crossing the finish line.
Children Under 5:
Kids and strollers are welcome on the course! We do ask that all children be registered whether they are spectating or on the course. Under 5 registrations will not receive event swag.
Children 5 and older:
A race registration or spectator ticket is required for kids 5 and up. They'll get a root beer with their race registration! Need a kid's sweatshirt size? Shoot us an email at cheers@414events.com prior to October 15.
Food and Beverage:
Old World Wisconsin will be grilling up and selling classic brats and hotdogs. Additional beer and cold beverages will be available for purchase. Cash and credit are accepted.
Brewhouse:
The brewhouse and tavern are the newest features to this space that will see a lot of changes in the near future! Check out more about the project on OWW's website.
Wisconsin Historical Foundation Support and Old World Foundation Heritage Breed Animal Donation:
In addition to supporting the Wisconsin Historical Foundation through your registration fee, attendees will be able to donate to the fundraiser for Old World Foundation's Heritage Breed Animal Program. These funds are used to feed and maintain the farm animals on-site!
Course Type:
The course is through the wooded gravel roads of Old World Wisconsin. Video preview, here.
Course Limit + OWW Grounds:
Racers will be allowed two hours to complete the course. The buildings will be closed for the season, but participants will be able to enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature, say hello to the farm animals around the course, and admire all that our beautiful earth has to offer.
Dogs:
Dogs must stay home for this event. They'll give you victory kisses when you get home!
Wheelchairs:
Wheelchairs are welcome. Please note the course is on unpaved gravel paths. Because Old World Wisconsin simulates the rural environment of the 1800s and early 1900s, some historic spaces have limited accessibility. This is due to unpaved paths, narrow doorways, and thresholds that are historically correct, although often not accessible. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals requiring wheelchairs for mobility.
Strollers and Wagons:
Wheeled items are welcome, but please be cautious and aware of your fellow racers. If you intend on walking the race, please start towards the end of the line to allow for those running to be in front.
