Join us is welcoming Alison Sunshine Chavez as we raise funds together for the Pink Lotus Foundation. This non profit enables low-income, uninsured and underinsured women in the United States to receive 100% free breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment services.
Alison is an accomplished endurance athlete, having competed in over 150 races over the past ten years. Her hard work and endurance helped her conquer her most important “race” to date – her battle against an aggressive form of breast cancer.
In July 2013, Alison was diagnosed with triple negative ductal carcinoma, an aggressive form of breast cancer. Throughout her treatment, Alison endured seven surgeries, twenty rounds of chemo and many complications due to a weakened immune system, but her family, friends, colleagues and teammates kept her spirits up throughout, and she celebrated each treatment milestone with a race when she could. Five months after her last surgery, she earned her first 100 mile belt buckle at the 48-hour Across the Years Race. She truly believes that endurance running and a healthy diet helped save her life.
On the weekends, you can find Alison running and racing all over the Bay Area. She is a three-time Ironman finisher, and in the world of trail and ultra running (her favorite endurance sport), she has completed over ten 50 milers and four 100 milers. Last year, she had her best racing year to date, completing both the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run and the Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run, just six weeks apart. She is currently training for the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 Mile Endurance run and looks forward to running the Judgment Day Half Marathon with everyone in October!
Alison has been practicing law for fifteen years in both California and New York, specializing in corporate, finance and entertainment law. For the past five years, Alison and Coach Andy Noise have worked together on their respective training schedules and have supported each other at countless endurance events. This past year, they launched Sunshine Endurance Coaching and work with athletes looking to improve their running at all distance levels – 5k’s, 10k’s half marathons, marathons, 50 milers, 100 milers and multi-day endurance events – you name it!
