Safety Is Our Priority
Understandably, safety is a big concern for many as they are deciding whether to participate in this year’s events. The core of our planning of this event is to provide a safe and healthy event for all participants, volunteers, and staff. Which is why we are continuing to work very closely with the local municipalities to ensure we are adhering to all public health guidelines.
General COVID-19 Precautions
Masks/face coverings will be required by staff and volunteers at all times. Participants will be required to wear a mask/face covering during non-competition times: packet pick-up, pre and post-race, start lines, immediate finish line (masks will be given to participants if needed). Please note that masks/face coverings must be secured to the head with ties, ear loops, or elastic bands. Cloth face coverings must be made with two or more layers, and does not include bandanas or single layer neck gaiters. While spectating is discouraged to limit the amount of people at the event this year, we do ask if one is spectating to adhere to social distancing, wear a mask/face covering, and they must conduct a daily symptom self-assessment and be in good health. Spectators will not be allowed at the start or finish line.
Each participant will be required to complete a declaration at packet pick-up that they are not currently infected by COVID-19 and have not had, or knowingly been in contact with, someone experiencing any of the following symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 10 days: https://www.cdc.gov/screening/paper-version.pdf. Participants must also take their temperature on race day. If a participant has a fever of 100.4 or higher, they shall not participate.
There will be an early packet pickup on Friday 5/07 and day of on 5/28. Additionally, participants are able to select to have their packets mailed to them prior to the event (this can be done through their RunSignUp profile). Minimal contact will be made at packet pick-up by using electronic check in devices. Participants may register at packet pick-up and day of the race, but are asked to do so from their own personal devices.
The half marathon will start at 7:30am and the 5K at 7:40am. Participants for each distance will be lined up in the start corral of 20 people each and will be socially distanced 10 feet apart (masks will be provided if needed). Waves of 20 will be released one at a time every 15 seconds maintaining social distancing. Once a wave of 20 is released a staff member will allow 20 more participants into the corral.
Water & Aid Stations
Aid stations will be self-serve, tables will be spaced 25 feet apart, and water bottles will be sealed. There will be 10 oz water bottles available at aid stations, and 16 oz water bottles will be available at the finish line. No Gatorade, endurance drinks, nor nutrition will be provided on course. Gels will be provided in your race packets for you to carry and use as needed.
Finish Line/Post Race
Participants are encouraged to leave the finish area as soon as they complete the race. Sealed 16 oz water bottles and pre-packaged, self-serve/prepackaged nutrition will be available to grab and go. There will be no beer or entertainment at the finish line but please enjoy a beverage on us at Vino Etc. All results will be streamed live and will be sent to mobile devices. Additionally, there will be no awards ceremony, but top finishers will be announced and overall/age group awards will be available for pick-up at a separate table
