D.S. Turkey Trot (5K)

Before we eat, laughed, cry, and eat again, let's run. Now it is time for us to make room for turkey pounds we are about to gain. Registration is now open for the D.S. Turkey Trot which is scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2021 at South Park, Junction City, Kansas. This run will begin at 8a.m. with options to compete in either the 1.5 mile walk category or the 5K run category. The park course starts and finishes at the South Park Trail Entrance. 5K Race participants will run around the park track approximately 2.5 times. 1M walk participants will begin at the same point and will continue until finish. The rate to participate in the race is $30 (5k Run) and $25 (1k Walk) until November 17, 2021. Prices will increase on November 18, 2021. No race day registration will be provided due to us having no cash on premises. Presenting sponsor for the Turkey Trot is USCT Association. We will present proceeds from this race to Respect Runners Scholarship Fund. The D.S. Turkey Trot is one of two fundraisers sponsored by RR. Respect Runners' mission is to provide an the benefits of running to the local community and show support to the Marathon Bahamas.

CANT MAKE IT, SIGN UP VIRTUAL - Register by 12/16/21 to get a shirt. All virtual participants will have a shirt (if registered by 11/10/21) and a finisher medal sent to your house! You may bring your dog to participate with you. They must remain on a leash at all times and please, no retractable leashes.

Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration will be held on Saturday morning starting at 7:30 am.

Packet Pickup/Check-in area:  On-site registration is not available due to us not accepting cash. We ask for registration to be done online via Run Signup.  You can sign up the day of the event either on your computer on or your phone.  The packet pickup/check-in area will be spaced out to allow ample room for social distancing. All race volunteers will be wearing a mask and gloves. We encourage participants to wear a mask when picking up their packet. When you arrive please park, and pick up your packet (race bib, safety pins, and swag) and proceed back to your vehicle. The start line will be wide, and the space is very open to allow for proper social distancing.

Race number and chip: Your packet will contain your race number with the chip on the back, please wear your bib on the front of your shirt.  Do not tamper with the bib or remove the chip. You will need to wear the race bib in order for your run/walk to be timed.  If you do not wear the bib you will not be in the results. 

Finish line: Once you have finished the race you will receive a finisher medal, please grab a bottle of water.

Course: The 5k course is on the park trail and spiked trail shoes are not needed.

Results:  Results will be texted to your phone and available on-line at this web site.  Please remember results will not be final until the last person has crossed the finish line at approx. 12pm.  Final results will be uploaded by 1pm on race day.

Awards:  Overall finishers male and female will receive free entry into a future race at Fortitude. Top 3 places in each age group will be given discounted entry into the next upcoming 5K in 2022. Age groups for women and men are the following: 18 and under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over

Parking: There is ample parking on site at Fortitude close to the start and finish line. There is plenty of room to spread out and maintain social distancing.

Participants: Participants will receive a t shirt, if registered by NOV 10th, and finisher medal.  We encourage participants to wear a face mask while picking up their packet and at the start of the race. Fluid Stations: We will provide bottled water at the finish of the race. There will be no fluid stations on the course. Bring your own water for the course. 

Restrooms: Restrooms will be available on site. No Port-Johns will be available.
