Description

This is a 5K run through the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park on November 19, 2016 starting at 9am. We will also have a kid's fun run. Proceeds benefit the Paul Laurence Dunbar Band.

How long is the race?
The Dunbar Dash: Run your Brass off is a 5k.

What time does the race start?
The race begins at 9:00 a.m. EST. Check in will begin at 8 a.m.

How do I register?
You can register online at our secure site. Click on the Registration tab on the homepage and follow the directions. Remember – there are no refunds or deferrals to future years.
Is there a capacity limit (cap) on the race?

Yes. The race is limited to the first 1,000 to register.

May walkers participate?
Yes, walkers may participate.

Where are the Start and Finish Lines?
The Start and Finish Line will be in the parking lot to the right of The Kentucky Horse park main entrance. Please see “Course Map” tab for picture.

Are headphones, ipods or MP3 players permitted?
You may wear your headphones, ipods or MP3 players; however, we ask that you keep the volume at a reasonable level for your own safety and out of courtesy for fellow participants. You should still be able to hear participants and volunteers in proximity to you.

Are strollers and pets allowed?
Yes. Strollers and pets are allowed. However, you will be asked to start at the back of the chute for the safety of the other participants.

What is the temperature that time of year?
According to weather.com, the average high is 55 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 37 degrees Fahrenheit.

Where should I park?
When you enter The Kentucky Horse park you will follow signs to the Main Entrance. Parking will be in the lot to the left of the starting line. See “Course Map” tab for picture.
Will there be water stations?
Yes. There will be a water station at the turn around point and bottles at the finish line.

What will I receive for participating?
ALL 5K participants will receive a short-sleeve shirt. The shirts are available in men’s and women’s sizes, so be aware of this when you register. Kids Run participants will receive a participation ribbon.

What is the 5k route?
The course information can be found by clicking the “Course Map” tab at the top navigation.

When is the last day to register?
The last day to register online is November 18, 2016. Please note registration cost increases November 1, 2016.

Where do I get my race packet?
Packet pickup will be on November 18th, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at John’s Run Walk Shop in Palomar Centre. You can also pick up your packet race day at the Check – in tent at the Kentucky Horse park at 8:00 am.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes. But they will need a copy of your registration confirmation number, which you will receive upon registration, or a photocopy of your ID.

Are there bathrooms on the course?
No. There will be 3 regular portable toilets and 1 handicap assessable portable toilet in the starting line area.

How do I get my results?
1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age category will be recognized after the race on race day. Time results will be available on https://runsignup.com/Race/KY/Lexington/1stAnnualDunbarDashRunyourBrassoff and at http://www.johnsrunwalkshop.com/2016-results/ by noon on Monday, November 21, 2016.

What is the cancellation policy?
Sorry, there are no refunds for cancellations.
