Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass is our 2018 Head Up Heels Down Charity Beneficiary.  A portion of your race registration and 100% of runner donations will go to help further the mission of this worthy local charity.

Junior Achievement's unique volunteer-delivered programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and help strengthen their communities.

"We are honored to have been chosen by EEI as the Official Charity of the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event," says Lynn Hudgins, president of Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass.  "We have been involved with this wonderful event since 2006 and recognize the prestige that this distinction brings to Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass."

Junior Achievement partners with volunteers from the community to teach elementary students about their roles as individuals, workers and consumers, and to prepare middle and high school students for key economic and workforce issues they will face.  The core values of Junior Achievement are:

  • Belief in the boundless potential of young people
  • Commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship
  • Passion for what we do and honesty, integrity, and excellence in how we do it
  • Respect for the talents, creativity, perspectives and backgrounds of all individuals
  • Belief in the power of partnership and collaboration
  • Conviction in the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning

Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass, serves 36 Kentucky counties.

The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is an Eventing competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.  The Land Rover Three-Day Event is a CCI Eventing competition, and the only four-star Eventing competition in the Western Hemisphere. Four stars is the highest level of competition in the sport, the same level of competition as Eventing at the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games.

Although the event's name continues to reflect its roots as a three-day competition, the Land Rover Three-Day Event currently takes place over four days (Thursday through Sunday). Due to large number of entries, both Thursday and Friday are devoted to Dressage. Cross-country is on Saturday, and show-jumping is on Sunday.

The Land Rover Three-Day Event is held the last weekend of April, the week before the Kentucky Derby. It is one of the three events in the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing.
