Description

On September 9th, 2017, Active Heroes will partner with the City of Hillview, Kentucky to host a special event to raise awareness and funds to help end the epidemic of Veteran Suicide while also helping recognize the service of all military service members, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical services, and dispatchers.

The event will feature a timed 5k run, timed/scored obstacle and training course, untimed family walk, and emergency/military vehicle show, and community gathering at the Hillview City Center.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Active Heroes programs to help eliminate military/veteran suicide.

Emergency & Military Obstacle Course

Emergency & Military Obstacle Course

Workout 1, 2, & 3
- Workouts 1, 2 and 3 will be coached and planned by Made Fitness of Louisville. Each workout will be either Emergency or Military based

Low Balance Course
- Using team work each person will balance and walk across planks and logs to the rest of the course.

Team Plank/Rope Walk
- With two long planks with rope attached throughout. Each team member will have to hold and balance on the two planks and manage to walk forward 50 feet down the road as a team on the planks.

Tire Flip
- Consisting of both large and small tires, the tire flip is a classic and popular OCR activity. Being behind Priceless we will work to move back and forth on flipping the tire as to be in the back of the parking lot for the least amount of time possible.

Mile of Honor
- From the end of mile 1 to the start of mile 2 of the course, each person will pick up and carry a ruck-sack. Carrying a ruck-sack will be able to be to done in honor or anyone the participant wishes, who served in any emergency or military services. 

Bucket Brigade
- Runners will fill and carry a bucket of gravel and walk it 150 feet down the road.

Fire Dummy Carry
- In the drive of the school, a fire dummy provided by fire dept will be carried for 100 yards by each runner.

Carry the Hose
- Fire hose provided by fire dept will be carried for 100 yards around the back school parking lot.

6 Foot Wall
- Individually, runners will climb the 6ft wall and get over it to the remainder of the course.

Barbed Wire Low Crawl
- Individuals will crawl under barbed wire for 150 feet.

Tire Run
- Runners will do football style conditioning by running through stacked tires in the grass of the Hillview Rec building

Team Wall Climb
- Last obstacle is a 10-12 foot wall the requires a team of at least 2 people to be able to climb before completing the race.

Course Information

Active Heroes 5K & Emergency & Military Obstacle Course will feature:

5k Run
- The event will feature a 5k (3.1 mile) chip-timed competitive running event that will take runners through Hillview. The course will be USATF certified and have full medical support and 2 water stations on the route.

1.5 Mile Walk
- The 1.5 mile non-competitive walk will follow the route of the EMC but will not have participants go through the challenge activities and workouts. 

Emergency & Military Obstacle Challenge (EMOC)
- The Emergency & Military Obstacle Challenge will feature 15 different activities and workouts Participants will have the option to register as a competitive and noncompetitive registration. Those who compete will be scored on non-timed elements and timed when moving between stations. Prizes will be awarded to the top competitors.
