2019 BREC Rocketkidz Rookies
June 1st, 2019
BREC Liberty Lagoon Water Park
Baton Rouge, LA
We are back and better than ever for another year of biking, swimming and running! BREC's RocketKidz Rookies Triathlon is an event specially designed to introduce children ages 3-10 to the sport of triathlons.
3/4 yr olds: swim 15 yds, bike 100 yds, run 100 yds. ONE parent may accompany the child on the course.
5/6 yr olds: swim 20 yds, bike 1/2 mile, run 1/4 mile.
7-10 yr olds: swim 20 yds, bike 1 mile, run 1/2 mile.
Training wheels are acceptable for all ages. Please ensure your child's bike is in good working order prior to the event.
We've got nonswimmer divisions where a child can use flotation devices....we even allow training wheels for all ages! It is short, it is fun, it is a great way for your child to play and be a triathlete.
BREC Liberty Lagoon Water Park is an aquatic wonderland and your family will want to use your discount coupon to go back after the event!
Cancellation/Refund Policy: NO REFUNDS. NO TRANSFERS. We purchase supplies/goodies for this race well in advance of the event and cannot offer refunds. Racers cannot give their race entries to another person to race (liability issue). All RKF events benefit the Foundation, so even if you cannot race your entry fees are going to fantastic programming!
This race will not be rescheduled. The cancellation of this event is at the discretion of race directors. The race may start during light rain. Cancellation will occur if thunder or lightning is present in the area. We will do everything in our power to allow the event to take place, but we will not compromise the safety of our little racers.
This year's course gives you a great preview of BREC's Liberty Lagoon Water Park. The swim takes place in the Lazy River. The bike takes place on a shutdown section of Lobdell (thanks to State Troopers and EBR Police) and the run is in the grassy ball field. Finish under the Oaks and big orange RKF arch!
The race distances are approximate and allow for safest course we can muster on the roads and sidewalks. The focus of this event is to present triathlon to the children in a way that gets them motivated to stay active and, hopefully, consider participating in runs and bikes and swims ....and any other physical activity.
