Community Renewal - South Shreveport Cares Family 5K & Fun Run 2020 (Draft)

This uplifting synergizing event is held in the heart of Southern Trace. The walk/run experience starts at the Clubhouse and meanders through the gorgeous and hilly streets past azaleas in bloom, sparkling lakes and neighbors rejoicing together that spring is here!​

The mission of South Shreveport Cares is to focus the collective care of many in our region to impact our city-neighbors living in Cedar Grove for good by financially supporting CRI's Friendship House effort currently operating there.

At present, there are 2 Friendship Houses in Cedar Grove, which are lived in by Community Coordinators who serve outreach efforts of daily support, hope and restoration to the people, both young and old, within a 30 block radius of each house.

15 Friendship Houses are needed for total restorative efforts to go forth in this challenged area of South Shreveport. That’s 13 more Friendship Houses needed to cover 390 more block areas of people in desperate need of bridges to a better tomorrow!

It’s going to take all of us (Businesses, Churches, and Neighborhoods) caring together, to fully initiate this proven solution to turn the tide of despair and hopelessness into prosperity and productivity, so all neighborhoods in South Shreveport can be places children can grow up safe and loved.
