Description

Please join us this Veterans Day weekend (Sunday November 14, 2021) for our 3rd annual race to support the Friends of the Patton Homestead.  We are happy to be back with our live event after going virtual in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.  This year's event will be a 10K (see course map below) and Fun Run! The 10K road race will take place along Asbury Street in Hamilton, Mass., which is designated as a national Purple Heart Trail. According to The Military Order of the Purple Heart, “The purpose of the Purple Heart Trail is to create a symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges, and other monuments that give tribute to the men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart medal.” In honor of all our military past and present, run a 10K from the Patton Homestead, around the Sherman Tank in Patton Park, and back to the Homestead. Kids and those wishing to walk or run a shorter distance can participate in the Fun Run, a 1K loop following the wood road along the perimeter of the beautiful Patton Homestead property.

The first 100 registrants of the 10K race will receive a long sleeve technical t-shirt and all Fun Run participants will receive a ribbon.  This year we have also added a Team category where groups of 5 or more registrants receive a $5 discount.   Money raised will help further the mission of the Friends.

The Patton Homestead is the former home of two famous American generals – General George S. Patton Jr. and his son Major General George S. Patton IV, and a nationally significant historic property where families, the community and veterans enrich their lives through a myriad of events and use of the scenic open space. The Town owned and operated property is home to the Patton Family Archives, managed by the Wenham Museum, the Hamilton Historical Society, and Inc.Ubate Coworking.  The Friends of the Patton Homestead is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to support and preserve the historic Patton Homestead as a community asset and to provide educational, recreational and cultural opportunities.
