About the Jackie Gray Scholarship Fund

The Jacqueline Anne Gray Memorial Scholarship is being given in honor of Jackie Gray, a member Milford High Class of 2015. Jackie was killed in a car accident on July 4, 2016, shortly after completing her freshman year at Quinnipiac University in CT. While a student at Milford High School, Jackie exemplified dedication and commitment, not only to her studies, graduating as a member of the National Honor Society with High Honors, but also in her role as a leader in many school and community organizations. At Milford High, Jackie was an active member of the school council for four years and the National Art Honor Society for three years, including as an officer her senior year. She was active in the Peer Mentor and Best Buddies programs, where she was able to express her kind and nurturing spirit. Through her active membership in Best Buddies, Jackie developed genuine, caring relationships that went beyond the walls of the high school. These relationships led to friendships that continued after Jackie left Milford High and moved on to Quinnipiac University. Jackie was also a member of the yearbook staff.

Outside of Milford High, Jackie's primary love in life, after her family, was dance. She started dancing at the age of 3, and continued through high school until graduation. She danced for the Georgia Dean School of Dance, performing in their annual Nutcracker production, and for Express Dance and Acrobatics as a member of their competitive dance team. It was through dance that Jackie developed her strength, poise, grace and inner beauty.

When Jackie was in her sophomore year of high school, she immersed herself in her faith through confirmation, and became a member of the Tri-Parish Youth Ministry at St. Mary's Church. Jackie dedicated herself as a group leader during confirmation retreats. She was always hopeful that she could impact one or two students, showing them that compassion and kindness are not only possible, but rewarding as well.

The recipient of this award will be a senior who has shown a dedication and passion for both their academic and extracurricular interests as evidenced by their active participation, strong work ethic and leadership qualities while simultaneously demonstrating genuine kindness, respect and altruism.

Course Description

The 5K course is run entirely within the contents of Fino Field and the attached Milford Path. Starting in the parking lot of Fino Field, the course rounds the football field and stadium before joining the Milford Path Rail Trail. After a period on the rail trail there's a half mile loop around scenic Clarke Island before rejoining the rail trail and heading toward Dilla St.  The course takes a left on the cinder track starting at the Dilla St crossing. This short loop leads to a u-turn and you'll head back toward Fino Field on the Milford Path. Once reaching Granite st, runners reenter the parking lot before doing another loop around the football field. After that, it's all rail trail back to the finish line right where the race started.

The running surface varies between pavement, grass fields, cinder track, and dirt trail. You won't be bored!

Parking for the Race

Please park right in the Fino Field lot itself. Parking will be available by the baseball field as well as the main lot, but please note the smaller extension to the main lot will be roped off for registration and tent city.
