WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN and WALK?

Virtual runs and walks are taking place around the world at your pace, outside or on a treadmill, alone or with a group of friends. Participants run or walk for charitable causes while raising awareness and funding.

On Veterans Day week (November 4th through November 11th), participants complete pre-determined registered distances (3.1 miles for 5K or 6.2 miles for 10K) while at the same time raising awareness and funding for homeless veterans and veterans in need at the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training (MCVET).

All participants are automatically eligible for MCVET’s GRAND PRIZE DRAWINGS. The winning prizes include but are not limited to gift cards and gift certificates from the following: BRAND STORES – HOTELS – RESTAURANTS – STEAKHOUSES – On-Line MERCHANTS.
Drawings will be held on November 11, 2022.

ALL PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT MCVET.

Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc.

On November 11th 2022, with your support the MCVET 5k/10k Veterans Day Virtual Run & Walk will continue to be a beacon of hope to homeless veterans and other veterans in need. Our virtual event raises support and awareness for our program. All proceeds benefit the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc.
     
The mission of MCVET is to provide homeless veterans and other veterans in need with comprehensive services that will enable them to rejoin their communities as productive citizens.


Entry Fees:

5K: $35

10K: $35

Take on a challenge and register for both the 5k & 10k!   There are no refunds of entry given or transfers of entry permitted for this event.

Start or join a team:

We encourage teams! Join together with friends, co-workers and acquaintances to celebrate veterans day and at the same time help out MCVET. During the registration process you will be given the option to start a team or join an already existing team. If you already know what team you would like to join you can also join that team by clicking here.


Submit Results:

If you would like to report your timed results, please have a device to track your time (GPS watch that’s great - if not you can use any phone-based run tracking app (MapMyRun, Strava, etc.) Runners will be able to submit their results through text or email (if opted in) or through the runsignup.com results page from November 5th through November 11th (11:59PM Eastern Time). You MUST run during this time period. If you have questions about submitting results don't hesitate to reach out to us at events@charmcityrun.com.

Richard Stafford is the President and CEO of Tower Federal Credit Union, the largest federal credit union in Maryland. He has been in leadership positions in the financial industry for more than 30 years with diverse areas of oversight including leading Mortgage Lending for community financial institutions. Rick is a graduate of Adrian College, and earned a Masters degree from Walsh College of Accounting & Finance and he is also a graduate of the School of Banking at Georgetown University.

Rick is also the President of TowerCares Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) public charity that supports children in need and military veterans and their impacted families. He also serves on the board of Ongoing Operations LLC, a national technology service provider to the credit union industry, and he is actively involved in many other national and community based associations supporting the credit industry including National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC).
