Come run, jog, or walk our 2K course at Westland with classmates and see how colorful your shirt can get in 3 laps around the field. Enjoy food, face painting, and music. Bring lawn chairs to hang out on the field and meet up with other Westland families.
This event will happen rain or shine.

FAQs
All participants must be registered and wearing a bib to enter the corral and run or walk the course! Westland friends and family are welcome and do not need to register to come cheer on runners.
What is a color splash run? In a color splash event, participants run or walk a course and have color powder tossed at them along the way. The color is a corn starch-based powder that comes off shirts in the wash. Participants may choose to wear sunglasses to avoid powder getting in their eyes, but volunteers will not direct powder at faces. What is the format and distance of this fun run? Participants will be organized into grade-level heats to run, jog, or walk 3 laps around the perimeter of the field for a distance of 2K. Color stations will be set up around the course, and volunteers will throw color powder at runners/walkers as they make their way around the perimeter of the field. Within each heat, at the start line, faster runners will be asked to self-select to the front of the heat and walkers to the back. The course is not USATF certified.
We ask everyone to practice appropriate race etiquette: Run or walk no more than two abreast. Allow faster runners to line-up first and pass. Pay attention to your surroundings and watch out for sudden stops. Assist others in need of help.
Who can join? This event is for Westland middle school students, staff, and their family members, including siblings, as well as 5th graders who will attend Westland in the fall.
Can adults join? Yes! We hope you run or walk too! Adults are welcome to enter the run and choose any of the heats to complete their 3 laps. Westland staff and teachers are encouraged to join the heat of the grade they teach. If laps are not your thing, sign up as a volunteer and help us put on a fun and safe event for the students. Or just come and cheer.
Can younger siblings join? Younger siblings of Westland students are welcome to register and run with an adult family member. However, the run may not be suitable for the youngest siblings, and they can instead come to cheer and enjoy the festivities without registering. No strollers allowed on the course.
What food will be offered? Kona Ice will be on site, and pizza slices will be available. Or pre-order a whole Potomac Pizza pie. Feel free to bring your own picnic. We encourage participants to bring water bottles to be refilled on site to save on event waste.
Where do I park? Limited parking will be available in the Westland and Little Flower lots. The Westland faculty lot is available to use. Participants are encouraged to carpool, bike, or walk.
Can I drop my student off? Yes. You do not need to accompany your middle school student at this event, but we encourage you to stay, lend a helping hand, and meet other Westland families.
What does my entry include? Shirt & bib; music; raffle entries; and fun with classmates. Food will also be available for purchase.
Can I bring my pet? Unfortunately, no pets are allowed.
