Health & History in the 21713
Join us for the final installment of this Boonsboro race trilogy! In 2017, we celebrated the 225th Anniversary of Boonsboro with a special 2.25 mile event. Last year, we added extra distance and scenery to reach 5K. This year, we're reversing course ... literally. :) We'll start the same 3.1 mile course in Shafer Memorial Park but head in the opposite direction. The course takes you through the past and present of our town, including Shafer Park Extension & Nature Trail, the new development at Sycamore Run, around scenic Boonsboro Cemetery, and past the Trinity Reformed cemetery where town founder William Boone lays at rest.
Official timekeeping (chipped) will be provided by Overland Timing, but 'Boone'Walk & Runners are encouraged to enjoy the race at their own pace. Families, strollers, and dogs are welcome! Post-race festivities will feature commemorative awards for top finishers, sponsor promotions, and a range of munchies.

- Race entry: $15.00 adult / $10.00 youth (5-12 yrs). Kiddos under 5 yrs = FREE :) Pricing increases $5 on race day.

RACE DAY PRICING / LOGISTICS
If you missed the pre-registration cutoff, but still want to join - that's cool! Details as follows:
- Time - 8:00-8:30AM, Park Pavillion #1 (closest to parking lot)
- Pricing - $20.00/adult, $10.00/youth (ages 5-12). No group discounts. Race T-shirts (while avail) $15.00/ea.

Parking & Road Closures
PARKING:
- Participant parking will be available on first come/first serve basis (approx 40 spots + 3 handicap) in the main lot of Shafer Park on Park Lane. The race has access to overflow parking adjacent to Shafer Park courtesy of the Boonsboro Fire Dep't as needed. There should also be ample street parking (Main St and side streets) to accommodate.
- Volunteers and Sponsors (only) will have access to the Shafer Park basketball court and Community Center parking.
ROAD CLOSURE:
- The Boonsboro Police Department will manage traffic for the race. Traffic on Rt 34 will be stopped for brief periods while participants cross Rt 34 to / from Monument Rd. Bulk of crossing is estimated between 9:02-9:10AM.

Course Route
2019 update - This year's course runs 'backward' from prior versions, which keeps the narrow sections later in the race when volume has thinned out. The traffic coming in/out of cemetery will not cross itself. Instead of returning to the park via Rt 34 by the Creamery, the course doubles back to Rt 34 by the Police Barracks. Dogs and strollers will start in a delayed wave to avoid congestion. 3rd time's the charm!
Turn by turn course description. Note: Google map road names and actual signage do not match on various small roads. Description reflects actual signage. Course mileage varies by tracking device, ranges 3.0-3.3 miles. We'll take the average and call it even!
- START on side portion of Park Drive (near slides/BB court/Park View intersection)
- Turn L on Park View, then take a quick R on Sgt Poffenberger Jr Way* (alley parallel to Rt 34)
- Follow alley (straight & L) to the sidewalk along Rt 34
- Follow markers to the entrance of the King Farm / Shafer Park Extension parking lot & to the Shafer Park Nature Trail.
- Bear L and complete a CCW lap around the trail; follow markers back out of the trail & parking lot
- Bear R along sidewalk in front of Police Station & cross MD 34 with police assist to Monument Dr.
- Proceed straight along Monument into the Ryan Homes / Sycamore Run development (Yay hills!) Continue straight until reaching Alt 40.
- Turn L onto sidewalk and follow a short distance to Reeder’s Alley.
- Turn L onto Reeder's Alley and follow to the Boonsboro Cemetery entrance
- Enter the cemetery and follow markers to complete a CW loop around the perimeter
- Exit the cemetery and turn L on Reeder’s Alley, then make an immediate L onto Young Ave
- Follow Young Ave to Monument Dr
- Turn R on Monument Dr back to the intersection of Rt 34
- Cross back over Rt 34 with police assist and bear R onto the sidewalk
- Turn L onto Sgt Poffenberger Jr Way / alley and follow back around (R & straight) to Park View
- Turn L onto Park View* and then R onto Park Drive to cross FINISH (same as Start)
* Behind the stone wall at this intersection lays the gravesite of town founder, William Boone. If you aren't racing for time, take a detour around the corner and pay your respects!
** Water fountains and bathroom facilities are available at start//finish & trail loop. A manned water station will be provided on Monument Dr.

- 9:00 AM - Race begins - EXCEPT dog/stroller participants. All runners with dogs or strollers must wait for 2nd wave.
- 9:05 AM - Dog / stroller wave begins (those without dogs/strollers who want to wait to stay with friends/family are welcome)

The overall vs. age & category-specific awards have been re-organized!
- Results will be sent automatically to phone numbers that you select at registration and will be available both on this site and www.overlandtiming.com
- Overall 1st - 3rd Male & Female finishers will take home custom medals and locally sourced loot :)
- 1st - 3rd place finishers (male & female) in each age category will also receive medals.
- Overall status supercedes all other statuses. Age status supercedes special category status. Special categories = dog / stroller
