Description

Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center is a nonprofit organization founded by Tom LaMonica in 1981. Tom was a teacher and coach at Friends School of Baltimore and passionately served as our leader until his passing in September 2010.

This 5K run is a memorial to our founder and our biggest fundraising event!

Tom built Genesee Valley to provide a space for groups to become better teammates and classmates through physical challenges. We continue that tradition today by offering Summer Camp and Team building programs to students and adults that focus on communication, confidence building, persistence, leadership, and creative problem solving.

Proceeds from this event support our scholarship fund for students who could not otherwise afford to attend Genesee Valley. Scholarship students either participate in our Team building programs with their class as a school field trip or attend a full week of Summer Camp.

The 1 mile walk also takes places along the trails and fields of Genesee Valley.

Event Guidelines: Please no baby joggers, strollers, roller blades, skates, bikes, dogs, pets or headphones allowed on the race course. Your race number must be worn on your front and must be visible. DO NOT exchange or give your race number to another participant.

Note: Pets are not allowed on property.

Volunteers:

We need volunteers to help us with many tasks throughout the morning of the race: setting up the check in tables, taking photos, distributing water, and much more. We could also use some help getting the course ready the couple weeks prior to the race. Email us if you are interested in helping.
