ASHFoundation’s 5th Annual Virtual 5K Walk/Run: Sparking Innovation with Every Stride

Join the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) on August 31, 2024, for our 5th Annual Virtual 5K Walk/Run: Sparking Innovation with Every Stride, where every step you take fuels innovation in communication sciences and disorders! Since 2020, nearly 5,000 5K participants have walked 61,739 miles in all 50 states and nine countries to spark innovation step by step, grant by grant. Be a part of our best 5K yet in 2024!

The ASHFoundation is the leading organization dedicated to communication and connection through research and scholarship. We support innovators and spark innovation in communication sciences and disorders, and empower speech, language, and hearing professionals to change people’s lives. By joining our fifth annual virtual 5K, you are striding alongside a global community committed to making an impact.

Participating is easy! You can help move the field forward from your home treadmill, neighborhood track, or local trail. Don’t wait - race to sign up and receive your free t-shirt and exclusive race bib while supplies last. Your $40 registration fee funds the future of communication science through ASHFoundation awards, research grants, and scholarships. 

Be sure to register early! If you are one of the first 500 registrants, you will receive a pair of special 5th anniversary shoelaces. Also, early registrants and teams will have the opportunity to be a part of a social media campaign in the lead up to the Virtual 5K that we will reach out about in early summer.

In honor of this very special 5th year of our walk/run, the ASHFoundation will acknowledge registrants who have joined us all five years in a few special ways including: 

• A special five-year participant version of the race day t-shirt to allow them to stand out and share publicly their commitment to our cause,
• An honorary certificate acknowledging their history of participation,
• The unique opportunity to participate in an ASHFoundation social media campaign,
• A LinkedIn frame you can use to share your support, and 
• Recognition in our special 5th anniversary of the 5K display at ASHA Convention.

Can’t make the event, or unable to participate? You can still donate to the race via the ASHFoundation website and/or cheer on the ASHFoundation and our walkers or runners via social media. We are asking all participants to take pictures on race day to share their virtual racing experience using the hashtag #ASHFoundation5K. We’ll also post the list of all finishers on the ASHFoundation website to celebrate their accomplishments.
