TOP RACE TIPS FROM THE RACE DIRECTORS
1. PLEASE REVIEW THE COURSE BEFORE THE RACE!!!!! DRIVE THE COURSE!!!!! Some people got lost last year. It’s your responsibility to know the course. We will have people at SOME intersections – but you should still review the course before the race. All intersections are marked with at least one sign. We HIGHLY recommend you drive the course ahead of time.
2. Wetsuits are NOT REQUIRED. The water is above 70 degrees. Some athletes will choose to wear wetsuits – that is fine. But you don’t have to.
3. Arrive early – parking is tricky – see more on parking below.
4. Bring your own food, water, extra supplies – this is a small race there isn’t a lot of extra support, vendors, etc.
5. Ask a friend or family member to volunteer on race day – ask them to email firstname.lastname@example.org! Hug a volunteer and the race directors! This is a 100% volunteer led race.
6. Have fun and BE PROUD! You’re racing in one of the longest standing triathlons in the world!!!!!! Congrats!!!
PenBay YMCA Sailfish team is running a small concession stand at the race. Please bring some extra cash to support our local swim team! There will be drinks and baked goods!
Warning- limited parking. Please use common sense. This is a local, community event during a busy time of year. Let's not get a bad reputation for the race.

The Megunticook Race Festival builds on the history of the original Tinman and Maine Sport Triathlon, one of the longest-standing races in the U.S. 2019 marks the 39th year of the Triathlon. It is organized by a group of dedicated and passionate local volunteers and supported through local business sponsorship. All profits this year are going to One Community Many Voices. This race will be a great, family friendly event. We are aiming to put on a great race with chip timing, but will be keeping costs low in order to maximize funds going to our local community. So that means volunteer race directors and limited race swag.
NEW THIS YEAR:
