The Treetown Tussle on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th will take you through some of the best trail running Ann Arbor has to offer. Because 2020 has been a crazy year we are making the 2020 Treetown Tussle even better!
Ultra runner and 2018 Iditarod Trail Invitational Champion Peter Ripmaster will be joining us to run 100-miles in Ann Arbor at the Treetown Tussle on his quest to run 50 x 100-milers in all 50 states to raise funds for Owl Research Institute. He will be aiming to run under 24-hrs.
There will be 8 waves, capped at 25 runners per wave. Each wave will start when Peter returns from the the previous wave. Wave start times are an estimate on when he will be returning. Our goal is to have runners out there on the course with him for his full 100-miler. If you want to do more than one loop, you are welcome to run in multiple waves. Want to run the full 100-mile with him!?!? Contact nick (at) annarborrunningcompany.com for more info!
The run will start and end from AARC Kerrytown (200 N. Fourth, Ann Arbor, MI 48104). Take a selfie while Tussling and send it to nick (at) annarborrunningcompany.com to be entered into a raffle for a free pair of Altra shoes.
The 13.1+ mile route includes the following trails in Treetown (Ann Arbor). Bluffs Nature Area, Kuebler Langford Nature Area, Bird Hills Nature Area, Barton Nature Area, Black Pond Woods Nature Area, Barton-Argo Trail, and Nichols Arboretum. 70% of the course is on gnarly singletrack trails. If you do the math that's 9.5-miles of awesome trail running within the city limits of Ann Arbor, MI!
This is NOT a race. Just a free, fun, and untimed run to showcase Ann Arbor's best trails. Pre-run nutrition will be provided by our good friends at Skratch. There will be some post-run snacks and fun at the store after the run. Runners will receive a sweet Treetown Tussle sticker for tussling with us.
Registration to be entered into the raffle for shoes and/or a Garmin closes Friday 10/2, 2020 at 11:59pm.
But Wait! There’s More! This year we are excited to bring you the Treetown Tussle rucking division. Rucking, or walking/jogging with a weighted backpack, is a key component of military training, but it is also a great workout challenge for the rest of us. All you need is a backpack (or “rucksack”) and some weight from whatever you like; possibilities include sand, cat litter, bird seed, flour or sugar, fitness weights, etc. We suggest a 20-pound pack if you weigh under 150 pounds or a 30-pound pack if you weigh over 150 pounds. The Treetown Tussle is an un-timed fun event, so we encourage you to use any weight that challenges you!
