Bangor Color Run

The color run is a 5K walk/run. This year the National Honor Society has decided all proceeds will be going to Lauren Markel, a staff members wife who is battling DIPG inoperable brain tumor. Bangor's National Honor Society wants to make money less of a concern during this time for Mr. Markel's family, So come out, and participate in a run that is a great time, and help us come together as a community to help out one of our fellow Vikings. 

CHILDREN UNDER 10- FREE ADMISSION 

In November 2015, Lauren learned that she has an DIPG inoperable brain tumor. DIPG has approximately 350 cases diagnosed each year, mostly in children. To be diagnosed as an adult is extremely rare. Lauren's survival rate with most medical treatment is virtually non-existent. However, from the time of diagnosis, God has given Lauren the verse "I will not die but live and I will proclaim what the Lord has done." Psalm 118:17

Lauren Markel is a wife, mother, and campus minister at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Lauren has been happily married for seven years, has two beautiful daughters, and spends time during the week influencing student leaders at WMU. To know Lauren, is to love her. Her passion for life, and joyful, fun loving spirit is contagious.

We are reaching out to her community and nationwide to support her in an opportunity to seek treatment. Lauren has discovered DNA specific, gene targeted therapy options for this rare condition that have been effective for others and are in the process of becoming proven methods for recovery.
After much research and guidance from various physicians, specialists and practitioners, Lauren has decided to move forward in these specialized treatment options in hopes that she can become a living testimony of breakthrough in this field for many that come behind her.

This treatment will cost around $245,000, none of which insurance can cover. We need to get started right away as the timeline they have given us requires action immediately.

We are actively seeking 245-255 individuals who would consider giving $1000 who would like to support. If you or anyone you know would like to partner with us in the $1000 giving or giving in any donation, we are so grateful for the help and support and consider this money well invested not only in their lives and for the sake of their family, but for many families who could benefit coming after the Markel family in the case of similar events.
