Description

On June 30, Bay Mills Community College will be hosting the 1st Annual Robin R. Bedell 5k Memorial Scholarship Run/Walk. This 5k will help raise funds for the newly established Robin R. Bedell Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a Bay Mills Community College student(s). This race is not a timed race, but you will still cross a finish line and be able to check your time afterwards to see how you did. Robin was all about getting his daily steps in and not worried about who was the fastest or the first one done, so let's do him proud and get our steps in! All ages are welcome to participate, so bring a friend, significant other, or the whole family to support a good cause! Robin did so much for Bay Mills Community College, so let’s all come together for him and honor him on his birthday.

The 5k will start at the Brimley/Bay Mills Farmer's Market Pavilion and end at Bay Mills Community College.

Robin’s love for education is evident as he continuously sought to learn something new. Whether it was learning in a formal classroom or learning by experience, Robin believed there was always a lesson to be learned. Robin always looked at any experience as a true opportunity to learn. He always asked if you learned something new today.

Robin’s 18-year career at Bay Mills Community College not only had a tremendous impact on his colleagues, but he also had an impact on any student that came across his path. He would share is sentiments on learning while providing suggestions that would help students stay determined in reaching their goals. Robin is missed and will continue to be missed at Bay Mills Community College. If you listen closely, you can still hear his coined phrases, “…and then what happened” and “I have to get my steps in”.

Robin was a very active and dedicated member at Mukwa Health & Fitness Center. Robin would start his day bright and early at Mukwa with his wife Kelly, before they headed to work. He loved to work out, it was part of his daily routine. Robin was an inspiration to so many that worked out at Mukwa as well. He motivated them and made their day brighter with his presence and motivational quotes. You could always find him on the treadmill with his headphones in, and wearing his daily matching track suit.
