GUIDING LIGHT Strides For Unity 5K

Guiding Light is proud to host our Second Annual Strides For Unity 5k located in Millennium Park. Our goal is simple: to bring community organizations and families together because through triumph and tragedy, relationships are our greatest strength. Let’s remind everyone who is in Kent County. You are never alone.

We are proud to announce that Guiding Lights Second Annual Strides For Unity 5K will be presented by Mercantile Bank! We are grateful and excited for this event to be supported by such a community partner.

Guiding Light was founded in 1929 and has grown into a robust recovery and reengagement community focused on living a new way in this world. Designed to help those living at society’s margins fulfill their God-given potential, we are building on a near century of compassion. Guiding Light walks alongside men, and now women, struggling with the chaos from chronic addiction. Our programs and staff empower individuals to live free and sober in this world, fully employed, safely housed, and restored to God and family. 

Event Information:

Our race day coarse will take you on a 3.1 mile loop in and around Millennium Park beginning and ending at the Grant Pavilion where awards will be presented after the race.

This is a timed event! If you feel like laying down a PR for yourself or to bring back bragging rights to your friends, this is the place to do it! Whether this is your first 5K or your 100th we will have your finish time upon crossing the finish line!

Packet Pick-Up: Will begin the morning of the event October 1st at 1:00pm under the Grant Pavilion at Millennium Park. 

Family, Friends, and Dogs: Whether this be your first ever 5K or you are an experienced pro. We hope that you bring your family and friends to show support and enjoy themselves. Snacks and water will be provided! If your four legged friends want to check out what we are doing please bring them along! Just remember that dogs must be on a leash the entire time of the event. Runners/Walkers with dogs will also start the race after participants without dogs. Please be prepared to clean up after your dog as well.

Race Day Swag: Each runner/walker will receive a swag bag and a Guiding Light Strides For Unity 5k T-Shirt. In order to guarantee a shirt in the size requested please register by September 17th.
