The Old Town New Year 5K takes place at 3 PM on December 31, 2013 in Lansing, Michigan. The race starts and finishes in the Old Town section of Lansing and features the beauty of the Lansing River Trail. The Old Town New Year 5K features a flat, loop course which is conducive to fast times. The race is open to runners, walkers, and push-rim athletes of all ages and ability levels. An official course map will be available shortly. The race begins on the River Trail just south of the Chavez Parking Lot in Old Town and proceeds south on the Lansing River Trail for 1.55 miles (2.5K), before turning around and returning to the starting point.
This race introduces the Lansing Marathon Race Series, in which runners who participate in the entire series will be entered into a drawing for cash prizes. There will be four (4) races in the series, not including the Marathon itself. First prize will be $500, second prize will be $250, and third prize will be $100. Odds of winning will be based on eligible participants. Winners will be selected from runners/walkers who have participated in each designated event prior to the 2014.
