The Old Town Commercial Association will host its 13th annual Scrooge Scramble 5K Run/Walk on the Lansing River Trail to benefit the Old Town Commercial Association on Dec. 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. This is a family friendly event and a great chance to get outdoors. All walkers and runners are welcome! This year, we are pleased to offer a virtual race option for your comfort and convenience.

In person race: The course to run along streets of Old Town and on the Lansing River Trail. To see the course map, click hereScrooge Scramble Beanie included with registration and finisher medals available after the race! No beanie or finisher medal guaranteed for registrations after 11/22, available as supplies last. Register early to secure yours!

Packet pick up will be available the day before the race, on Friday December 4 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the OTCA office at 1232 Turner Rd in Old Town, and on Race Day starting at 8 a.m. inside Sir Pizza Grand Cafe on the corner of Turner St. & Grand River. Please wear a mask to packet pick up.

Finisher medals will be available to all participants that finish the race with placement medals available to the first place finisher in each age division for both men and women in the run event. Age divisions are as follows: Under 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

The in person race is limited to 100 people due to current CDC guidelines and state executive orders for outdoor gatherings. Participants should wear a mask at packet pick up and check in and are strongly encouraged at the starting line of the race. Masks may be removed once you start running. Runners are encouraged to take part in the virtual event due to the limited capacity and for their safety and convenience.

Virtual race: virtual race participants are eligible to receive a beanie and finisher medals if they register on or before 11/22, which can be picked up during the packet pick up for the event day or the week after the race, Dec. 8-12, 2020, at Mother & Earth Baby Boutique (100 E César E. Chávez Ave, Lansing, MI 48906) during their regular store hours. Virtual runners can submit their race times as early as 11/28 but must submit times by 11:59 AM on 12/5. To submit virtual results, log into Run Sign Up and navigate to your races in your profile or go to the results tab in the navigation of this page. Virtual race participants will be eligible for finisher medals, but will not receive placement medals.

The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted during the race and online at Playmakers.com.

All proceeds benefit Old Town and the Old Town Commercial Association.

Currently, the plan is to offer both an in person race and a virtual race. If there is a need to make the event entirely virtual due to CDC guidelines and state executive orders, all participants will be converted to virtual registrations. We will use email as our main form of communication for any changes to the event day. Please make sure you register with an email address to get the most up to date information regarding race day.
