The Old Town Commercial Association will host its 13th annual Scrooge Scramble 5K Run/Walk on the Lansing River Trail to benefit the Old Town Commercial Association on Dec. 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. This is a family friendly event and a great chance to get outdoors. All walkers and runners are welcome! This year, we are pleased to offer this race as a virtual event for your safety, comfort and convenience.
In person race: Due to recent Emergency Orders, there will be no in person race. This race is fully virtual.
"Packet" pick up to receive your beanies and finisher medals will be available on Friday, December 4 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 5 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the OTCA office at 1232 Turner Rd in Old Town. Additional pick up times will be available Dec. 8-12, 2020, at Mother & Earth Baby Boutique (100 E César E. Chávez Ave, Lansing, MI 48906) during their regular store hours. Please wear a mask to pick up.
Finisher medals will be available to all participants with 1st place medals available to the first place finisher in each age division for both men and women in the event that report their time online once completing their 5k remotely. Age divisions are as follows: Under 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Submit Your Run Time: Runners can submit their race times as early as 11/28 but must submit times by 11:59 AM on 12/5. To submit virtual results, log into Run Sign Up and navigate to your races in your profile or go to the results tab in the navigation of this page. Virtual race participants will be eligible for finisher medals, but will not receive placement medals.
All proceeds benefit Old Town and the Old Town Commercial Association.
Update as of 11/17: The in-person race is being converted to a virtual race in light of the new Emergency Orders effective on 11/18 limiting outdoor gatherings to 25 people. Original Info: If there is a need to make the event entirely virtual due to CDC guidelines and state executive orders, all participants will be converted to virtual registrations. We will use email as our main form of communication for any changes to the event day. Please make sure you register with an email address to get the most up to date information regarding race day.
This race is endorsed by The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and part of the Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness. You will receive a FIT point for every endorsed event you participate in or volunteer for from January 1 until December 31st. Points earn cool swag and a chance to win various prizes!
