Refund Policy 2021


The Anchorage Mayor’s Marathon has a longstanding policy of not offering refunds, as planning a successful event is challenging and comes with significant upfront expenses.

However, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Mayor’s Marathon and offered participants the one-time option to receive a refund or defer their registration to 2021. It was the right decision to keep our community safe, and offer our participants financial flexibility in uncertain times.

As we prepare for the 2021 Mayor’s Marathon, we continue to monitor developments surrounding COVID-19 and remain in communication with local health and safety authorities. As a contingency, and as a matter of transparency to our participants, if the difficult decision is made to restrict or cancel the 2021 Mayor’s Marathon event, there will not be an option to receive a refund or deferral to the 2022 race. Instead, we will transition to hosting an exciting and engaging ‘virtual’ event.
