This event will heighten awareness for the community about those that suffer from Diabetes and raise money for local families that need help with the cost or copay of insulin and diabetic supplies that cause a financial burden on those affected by this horrible disease. There will be a 5k Run with medals awarded for the Top three Adult Females, top three Adult Males, and Top three Teenagers. There will also be a fun run for children 12 & under. You do not have to run. We welcome everyone of all ages to participate & walk for those you love.
Two Seniors that have joined together for their Senior Projects to heighten awareness about Diabetes. Their goal is to educate the community about how Diabetes affects the lives of those that are impacted and provide information on testing and early detection of the disease. They also want to help offset the financial burden of those affected by this disease through this fundraising event.
Dylan is a Senior at East Rutherford High School. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 10/31/2014. Since his diagnosis, he has been hospitalized multiple times and battles this disease on a daily basis. He is insulin dependent and wears a pump to help control his diabetes. His hope is that one day there will be a cure for this horrendous disease that has changed his life forever.
Samantha is a Senior at REACH (Rutherford Early College High School). She has saw the impact that Diabetes has had on Dylan and many others in the community. Samantha wants to help make an impact in the lives of those affected by this disease.
