FIRST METHODIST CHURCH OF CHARLOTTE

Why did we want to do a 5k? It is because we love our community, our location, and what our community stands for. Our community is located in one of the best and most central locations in all of Charlotte. First United Methodist Church is right on the border of First and Fourth Wards, located in “the Heart of the City, for the Hearts of the City.” It is right on the border of the booming financial district uptown and the hub of activity for the less fortunate residents of Charlotte. We wanted to showcase who we are, where we are and what we do. What better way to do this than a 5k?

In addition to supporting the people within our community, we also support our members. One of our closest and most beloved members, Associate Pastor Tracie Rose, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2014. She is battling this disease with the support of her family and her church. We wanted to show her our support by donating the profits from this 5k to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

This 5k is an opportunity to get to know your neighbors and to support a great cause. Or, it is an opportunity to just get out on a beautiful April morning and go for a run through uptown Charlotte with a few hundred of your friends. No matter your reason, we hope you will join us.
