The Emory ALS Center is part of the Emory Brain Health Center, led by Dr. Jonathan Glass, is one of the largest clinical centers for ALS in the United States. Their team approach to ALS care and research bridges multiple disciplines and departments, all sharing the same goal of a world without ALS

RUN THE JACKRABBIT TRAIL
The Jackrabbit Trail is rated as one of the best running and mountain bike trails in North Carolina. The trail is surrounded by beautiful Lake Chatuge with a boating area, campgrounds and great places to visit in Hiawassee and Hayesville. So spend the weekend and enjoy the race.10k will not be a double 5k.The 10k will be a single loop that adds another trail segment. The half marathon will cover 95% of the trails and you will love it. I reviewed the course by walking it and the 10k and half marathon trails are shaded, and not difficult to run.

TRAIL MARKING FOR EACH DISTANCE

HALF MARATHON: RUNNERS WILL RUN ALL LOOPS

  1. Central Loop, when ridden counter-clockwise, starts you out with some simple easy trails. There are no unavoidable obstacles, and this trail will provide you with access to the other trails within this looped system. It follows along the lake shore for the first 1.25 miles where you'll intersect with Burnt Tree Peninsula.
  2. Continuing on, you'll come to Yotees Run intersection. In order to reach Burrell Cove Trail, you'll need to leave the Central Loop and travel about 100 yards to the next signed intersection. Otherwise, continue left to stay on Central Loop. The next signed intersection, which is in about a mile, is the end of Burrell Cove Loop. Shortly after this intersection is the steepest climb on Central Loop. I say steepest because it is the only one of any duration, but is very do-able by even a novice rider.
  3. At the top of this climb is what I refer to as the Grand Intersection. Its a very wide spot in the trail where several lollipops branch off from it. To the right is Sneaking Creek and to the left is Upper Ridge Loop. Straight ahead, albeit somewhat right-ish is the final stretch of Central Loop. Its up and down with some slightly technical rooty areas but then finishes with a wonderful flowing downhill that has a few tight turns including a left-handed switchback near the end.

10K:CENTRAL LOOP AND SNEAKING CREEK

  2. At the top of this climb is what I refer to as the Grand Intersection. Its a very wide spot in the trail where several lollipops branch off from it. To the right is Sneaking Creek
  3. Run sneaky creek and turn right on Central loop to finish line.

5K: CENTRAL LOOP COUNTER CLOCKWISE
