Come out and join us on Saturday, April 1st for the 2nd annual Kevin Dendy Memorial 5K starting at Gold Park and running through Hillsborough's beautiful River Walk.
Captain Kevin Dendy was local to the Hillsborough/North Durham community. He was commissioned into the North Carolina National Guard and served one tour in Kuwait during the initial wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and provided essential medical care to soldiers serving overseas. Kevin had a love for everything outdoors - running, hiking, swimming, and riding his motorcycle. On December 29 of 2021, Kevin tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident. Proceeds from this race will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project of Fayetteville, NC and the Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse, organizations that were very important to Kevin. The race will start at Gold Park at 8:00am. Parking is available at the park with additional parking in the gravel lot across from Hillsborough BBQ on Nash St.
Will be available on Friday, March 31st from 8:30am-4:30pm at:
5322 Highgate Dr. Suite 241
Durham, NC 27713
*look for “Third Wheel Media” signs
You may also pick up your packet on race day beginning at 7:00am.
Your dog is welcome to join in the race along with Kevin's dog, Barley! Please note that some areas along the route are quite narrow, especially the covered bridge. There is a nice dog park for your pooch to meet up with friends afterwards!
Awards will be given to top 3 overall male and female finishers.
All registered participants will receive a custom race t-shirt and finisher's medal. Guaranteed t-shirt size deadline is March 3, 2023.
The Run/Walk will start at Gold Park near the playground. Participants will make a loop around Gold Park and continue across the covered bridge to the Riverwalk. They will continue on the Riverwalk crossing under Churton Street past the Farmers Market then turning around to head back to Gold Park to the finish line.
