About Our Wild Neighbors

Our Wild Neighbors is a registered 501 © 3 non-profit wildlife rehabilitation center. Located in Hillsborough North Carolina, we are one of the larger centers providing care to wildlife in the triangle and beyond. In addition to the rehabilitation and release of local wildlife, we also provide a means of education to our community to help promote the understanding of our natural world. In 2021 alone we have admitted nearly 1500 animals of multiple species of mammals, birds, and reptiles.

About World Wildlife Day

On 20 December 2013, at its 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 3 March – the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973 – as UN World Wildlife Day to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants. World Wildlife Day has now become the most important global annual event dedicated to wildlife.
